Another smirk made it's way across his face. He had figured her to be the type that was very easy to please and felt a small surge of smugness and pride when his quiet observations were once again proven to be right. Then again, there were very few times in which Nikolai found himself to be wrong about things as simple as humans were to him. They were like a certain genre of books, each cover was different on the outside and yet they all held certain traits and similarities that made them able to be compared to the others. "Yes, I suppose that I should be more pleased, more greatful."

Yet he wasn't. There were very few in life that could please the stotic vampire. Being able to drink fresh, and delicious blood from a person of his choosing. Finding a good book to pass his boredom. The strong burn from the alcohol that went down his throat as he drank the night away in the pub. Finding an interesting person to become his new toy. Yes he was a very stotic man that found pleasure in the darker, more sadistic pleasures that lay in the world of the night. " Yet, I find myself only able to be pleased by few things in this vorld." He trailed off, not planning on elaborating any further.

After all, he didn't want to scare the young woman or give her a reason not to trust him. That would only make his life at Hogwarts much more difficult in the long run. He was shaken from his thoughts when he heard her speak, relieved about not having to take the stairs, and asking if there was a way to get through floors without using the staircases as they made they way through the corridors. " I know that there are numerous passages on the floors that make it easier for the professors to travel around on the floors. However, I am not entirely sure if there are ways to get to different floors from those passages. Perhaps there is a book on it in the library that may help you. If not that then perhaps the headmistress might be able to?"

“Really? Thats unfortunate. But I suppose its better the have few things then none at all.” she said when he mentioned only a few things could really make him happy. It was a shame really, she couldn't imagine not being able to find pleasure in the most unlikely places in life. It kept her happy and very pleasant every day, these simple pleasures.

As they walked along the corridors he mentioned the Headmistress might have some sort of guide for her so she wouldn't have to take the stairs, but he did not. He also mentioned there might be one in the library. “Hmm...I shall have to look around for that once we get there. Perhaps they'll have a map of the school as well so I wont get lost so frequently...” she said, shaking her head lightly before looking around at the paintings as she followed him, before her eyes came to rest on his back. Her curiosity was peeking once again and she couldn't seem to repress it. “This may sound like a silly..or impertinent question...but what's it like? Drinking blood?” she asked, somewhat sheepishly, hoping not to annoy him with the question. He was probably asked that by students quite frequently.

She mentioned something about going to look around in the library when they arrived there, perhaps she could find a book or a map that would prevent her from getting lost in the castle so often. Yes, that seemed like it would be a good decision on her part, after all there were still things that lay hidden in the castle, things that were possibly even more dangerous to mortals than he was and that was saying something. "Yes, that sounds like the right vay to go about something like this. If anyvhere vere to have a map of the castle and the school grounds it would be the library."

When she asked him what it was like to drink blood, he paused, his icy eyes moving to glance at her, observing her for a moment before he chose to answer her question. " Vell, it honestly depends on vhether or not the blood suits your taste. If the blood does not, than it is an unpleasant experience comparable to tasting very bitter medicine. If one drinks too much of that type of blood, it is enough to make a vampire feel sick. However, if the blood is to your taste. There is nothing quite like it. The sensation of that amazing warmth filling your mouth , the delicious taste taking over each and every single one of your senses as you slowly savor it. It is a pleasurable experience, one that is even better when you are able to drink from a willing mortal."

She nodded when he agreed that if anywhere in the school would have a map to assist her, it would be the library. That was reassuring. Hopefully this would be one of her last days getting lost in this castle. If not...well...she was sure the Headmistress would have some sort of solution for her. Amaterasu hated to bother her over something so silly though, so hopefully the library would have something she could use.

She almost thought he wasn't going to answer her as he looked at her with that icy blue gaze. She would understand why he wouldn't want to, but he answered her anyways. She hadn't realized the type of blood would effect the the taste. Or perhaps he was referring to the person themselves and their habits or lifestyle? Either way she had thought all blood would be the same for them, a kind of silly assumption in hindsight, especially now that he had proven it wrong. “I didn't realize it would taste differently. Is it more based on blood type or the person themselves?” she asked, her head cocking to the side slightly in curiosity. She couldn't help but ask, after all it wasn't all that often someone found out these sort of things.

" I believe that it is a mixture of both that give the blood the flavor that it has. Vhen I was back in my homeland, Russia I had heard of there being vampires that vould only drink blood of a mortal that had certain blood type running through their veins. Likewise, there vere vampires who only drank blood from people who held a certain appearence, or a certain type of lifestyle. It is true that people who are healthier have better tasting blood than those who are not healthy, but as for the appearence part of it I am villing to believe that that was simply because they vanted attractive toys to play vith." His voice was bland, hinting at his distaste for such a superficial practice.

While he too saw mortals mostly as things that were there simply for entertainment, he was not superficial enough to take something as petty as looks into consideration. When it came to his tastes, he liked to drink from healthy young men and women that had not yet experienced the pleasures and joys that could be brought by the contact of flesh. Nikolai was the type of man that liked to bring his victims pleasure when he drank from them. He enjoyed seeing their flushed, shy reactions.

It brought out the inner monster in him.

They turned a few more corners before they came to what seemed to be a dead end. Nikolai brought out his wand, and tapped at the wall exactly three times with the very tip of it. "Open."[/i] The wall suddenly moved off to the side, revealing a small passageway with a series of stone steps leading down. "Lumos." Light flew to the very tip of the wand, and began to dimly light the passage. "Follow me and vatch your step."

She nodded again as he explained about how it was a combination of lifestyle and blood type. She somehow wasn't surprised when he mentioned the vampires in Russia who only chose people based on looks. It seemed to be like how most humans chose who they wanted to date, only there was no blood involved. His tone suggested he wasn't very pleased with the practice either. “So they essentially select people the same was us humans select who we would want to date.” she said as they continued to walk. It made sense in her mind, no matter how superficial it was.

An eyebrow raised when they reached a dead end. Had he been so distracted by her questions that she had managed to get him lost as well? No, that was silly. He was pulling out his wand and opening a secret passage in the wall. She followed him into the dark small corridor, lighting her wand as well. “Are there many secret passages like this in the school?” she asked, her eyes wide in fascination as they moved through the darkness, her fingers trailing along the wall.

" I suppose that it could be compared to a bit more sadistic version of dating. You are not that far off of the mark by saying something like that. Very good. I have explained it in the past numerous times in the past and for some reason people seem to have a hard time understanding vhat it is I mean about it. I have to say, you have managed to impress me." Granted it was only a little bit, but it still was not all that often that Nikolai could honestly say that a human had managed to impress him. Perhaps this human was a little more interesting than he had originally believed.

When they reached the end of the hallway, he glanced down at her almost snickering when he saw that raised brow and that expression of disbelief. Had she genuinely thought that he would get them lost after he had said that he knew where he was going? That was something that he found to be very humorous. As they walked through the secret tunnel, he answered his question as they walked, moving his wand to the hand closest to her so they could both see. " Da. There are a lot of different tunnels that run throughout the castle. I am not familiar vith all of them, but I do know of a lot of them."

Apparently she had caught onto the concept faster then most people he had explained it too. Perhaps it was thanks to her traveling with the opera, you see quite a bit of...'questionable' things when on the road with show people for so long. “I have? Well...excellent then.” she said with a small laugh, the sound bouncing off the walls lightly. Her laughs always carried more then her speaking voice for some reason...

These tunnels ran all through the school apparently. She wondered what they were used for mostly. Probably for professors now a days, but she couldn't help but wonder about their original creation. “I see...I wonder if these tunnels are on any of the maps. They could be very helpful. If not...perhaps I could make one.” she said, contemplating drawing them out if there wasn't. You never know when such a thing might come in handy. Like now for example, though she would definitely need someones help who had a better sense of direction then she did. Else she might get hopelessly lost...and in tunnels like these...well...it could be days before she found a way out.

He was surprised when he heard her laugh fill the air of the passageway. It was much louder than the voice that she used to speak with, though that could have also been due to the lack of noise that was made down there. Her laughter was not something that was high pictched, nor was it something that sounded like it was something that she forced out in an attempt to appear attractive in his eyes - something he found that women in particular seemed to have a habit of doing around him for one reason or another much to his great annoyance - It was very natural laugh, something that he was surprised to find that he didn't mind hearing all that much.

Perhaps this woman wasn't all that bad for a human after all.

When she spoke of wanting to know if there were maps of the tunnels that had been built around the school, he paused for a moment before answering her. "If there is such a thing, I vould imagine that it vould be in the hands of the Headmistress. There are things hidden in this school that she does not even vant us professors to know of. I vould imagine that such a map would be locked away hidden in her office somevhere."

She hmm’d lightly at that. “Things she doesn’t want even us to see? Goodness…that can’t be good. And here I thought this school was a safe place.” she said, only partially joking. Granted whatever it may be may not be dangerous after all, just old an valuable. Keeping things like that hidden would make perfect sense. One wouldn’t want people trying to break into the castle to steal things after all, it might endanger the students. Oh how she hoped it was nothing dangerous.

“Well, all else fails I could ask for a miniature map of only the passages I would need on a day to day basis. Or perhaps I won’t need to at all depending on what maps I can track down in the library.” she said, tapping her chin with her index finger, contemplating. “If not…well…I might just have to make some sort of emergency lost signal to have someone come find me.” she said with a small grin, shaking her head at the silliness of the thought. She could just imagine shooting sparks out a random window or her patronis running down the halls trying to locate someone. She could only hope it wouldn’t come to that though.

When she spoke to him about the headmistress hiding things an amused smirk crossed his face for what seemed like the hundredth time that hour. She was talking about safety as she walked through a dark passage way with a bloodthirsty vampire. Oh the irony. He had figured that the Headmistress was hiding valuable things inside of the castle, and simply wanted no one to find them, hence why maps of the passage ways were probably never made. It would take someone take someone with knowledge to even find most of them in the first place, never mind map them properly.

When she spoke of needing a sort of emergency signal, Nikolai paused for a moment before looking down at her with a curious glance. "Do you know how to cast a patronus? If you do then perhaps I can be of some help. If you ever find yourself lost again send your patronus out and tell them to bring Nikolai Dombrovski to you. I vill come and find you, and guide you to your desitination if need be and if I am currently not busy. If I am unable to help you then I vill send my patronus to you to at least guide you back to the main hall so you von't be lost anymore."

She looked up at him at his offering of helping her if she was lost again. She smiled warmly up at the vampire, “I can. That would be very helpful, thank you.” she said, rather pleased at this development. It was nice to know that she might have some help if she ended up hopelessly lost again, if he wasn't busy or teaching class of course. She didn't understand why people were so shy of him now, look at how nice he was offering his assistance like that.

“I really don't understand why people are so shy of you. Unless of course they've never attempted to speak with you for any extended period of time.” she said, glancing up at him with a small smirk. He seemed a nice enough fellow to her, and helpful to boot, then again she was as trusting as a baby sparrow. But her trusting nature had paid off more often then not so far, so she felt no need to be distrustful, especially of someone who was helping her.

He was slightly relieved when she admitted to knowing how to cast a patronus for that had now made everything that much easier for him. Granted, if she hadn't known and if she had asked he might've taken the time to teach her how to cast one but this way saved him a lot of time, effort, and energy. Casting a patronus was something that was difficult to teach, and even more difficult to learn. Even some of the most experienced of wizards sometimes had difficulty casting the advanced spell. "That is a good thing to hear. I vill show you vhat my patronus is for future reference. Expecto Patronum!"

A whispy silvery blue light flew from the very tip of his wand, floating around the tunnel for a moment before taking shape. A very large and very fierce looking mountain lion formed out of the light. It stayed there for a few moments, just staring at them before fading away, the light disappearing back into the tip of his wand.

He listened to her as she said that she didn't understand why people were so nervous around him, so nervous to speak with him. "I vould imagine that it something to do with the fact that I am dangerous, could end a human life rather quickly, and drink blood?" His tone was laced with amusement, and humor something that wasn't often found in him when he spoke.

She watched as he produced his patronis for her future reference, which took the form of a mountain lion. In all honesty his patronis looked scarier than he did, she wouldn’t say that out loud though. She should probably show him hers as well, so he would know what to expect should she get lost again. So with a soft ‘Expecto Patronum’ she conjured her as well. The wisps quickly took the form a curious lynx that was noticeably much smaller than his mountain lion. The lynx padded around the two of them for a moment before vanishing back into Ama’s wand. “There’s mine, so you’ll know what to be on the lookout for.” she said with a small smile.

She shook her head at his answer, “Ah but you said yourself that you’re under observation. So I have to conclude that people are just being silly and bigoted because they might be scared that they’ll actually like you.” she said with a small shrug. It was the only sensible option in her mind. The headmistress wouldn’t endanger her students after all, so he had to be safe to be around or he wouldn’t be here in the first place.

He watched out of the very corner of his eye, her reaction to his patronus. Most people that did not shy away from him at first, immediately did so after seeing just what animal he was able to conjure. It was something about him being able to conjure such a dangerous animal in order to serve and defend him when he needed it to do so that made people realize just how dangerous he truly was, and that was the very thing that made them quickly excuse themselves in order to run away as fast as they could, he had to admit that he was surprised that the young woman hadn't done the same by now.

Then again if she tried to run from him, she would probably manage to get herself lost again and he would end up finding her again anyway so he supposed that running was pointless.

His eyes turned to the front when he saw her cast her patronus, a lynx that was a good deal smaller than his own patronus. His eyes followed the feline, memorizing the details so that he would know what to look for before it disappeared. "Very vell then. I vill keep an eye out for that in the future." When she spoke again, he finally allowed a small and amused chuckle to leave his lips before he allowed himself to look at her and speak again. " Da. I know that is vhat I said and that is the truth. However I am finding that not many people are having common sense these days. They don't seem to think that I vould have someone vatching me here." He fell quiet when she mentioned that they were afraid that they would end up liking him. Dombrovski was not the kind of guy that people liked, he was the type that people feared and respected. It was odd to hear someone saying such strange things about him.

" It vould take a very interesting type of person to like me I think." And an even stranger person still to try and befriend him.
