With that, Ren's arms circled around Sebastian and he drew his wand before that all too familiar pop would wisk them away from London and they would arrive in Lundy. The island held the remnants of what once was a castle, but had long since met its ruin. The smell of salt from the ocean was in the air, the sun was abundant, and the breeze was cool. At first there seemed nothing remarkable about the place, but as Ren's hand slid into Sebastian's and they moved over one of the natural ridges of the ground, the sight was extraordinary. About a dozen dragons of varying ages were flying smoothly through the air, enjoying the space and the cliffs. The creatures seemed at peace in their surroundings and the dragon tamer felt a slowly building sense of pride. He looked up at a Welsh Green that flew overhead and inspected the outstretched wing that appeared to be repairing from a nasty rip and made a mental note to applaud Jun on her healing job.
The Catalonian was running toward him as fast as stubby legs could make him and he barely caught the movement before he wound up on the ground again. "Ah! Anata wa soko ni aru!" (There you are!) He couldn't contain his giggles as the dragon, standing to the height of his hip and could have been an easy 6 feet in length, laid its head on his lap and looked up at him. His hand softly ran over the scales and he smiled. "Watashi no koto ga koishikattadesu ka?" (Did you miss me?) He smiled and carefully eased up off the ground and slipped back to Sebastian's side as a very small red scaled dragon went toddling past them.
"Woah! Where do you think you're off to, missy?" He reached down and lifted the little scarlet dragon and she gave a soft squeak, looking at both of them curiously with large yellow eyes and flecks of gold about her face. "This little beauty is a Chinese Fireball. She just hatched about a week ago under Gutenberg's care and she's quite the little explorer, aren't you?" The dragon was entranced, looking at Sebastian and Ren chuckled. "I think she likes you, love. Dragons have an ability to sense goodness in a person when they're young. It's when they get older and get wild that they get so ferocious. That's why we like to get them young and train them. When they're older, we have to get rough. I don't condone the unethical treatment of any creature, but, it's going to eat you unless you make sure it understands that you are the one in charge. You may have to dole up some pain, but, you'll still be alive."
The Fireball wriggled out of Ren's hands and cautiously made her way up onto his shoulder before scampering over to Sebastian's shoulder from there. She looked at him closely for a moment before flicking her tongue over his cheek. Ren laughed, "Oh, yes. You have a new friend, love. That should make Gutenberg happy, we were concerned because she wasn't wanting to socialize with us as much as the others have. I think she senses how shy you are, and she can relate." He took a pocket watch out of his coat pocket and glanced at the time for a moment before putting it back. "Eleven thirty, they should start showing up soon." The Fireball had stretched across the width of Sebastian's shoulders as if she were a scarf. In the sky, there were a few more dragons flying in carefully measured patterns to stay out of each other's way. He was casting a wary glance at the adolescent Hungarian Horntail that was flying off to the east.
That one had one hell of an attitude.
He gestured out toward the far off dragon, and spoke again. "That one is from your homeland. Hungarian Horntail. Yes, the hype about the breed is right. They are right nasty little buggers. Kida's had a hell of a time trying to tame him. He's been set on fire, bitten, smacked with the spikes on the tail...thank Merlin we have healers up here. If he can't get it to cooperate, it's my turn to try him. Mueller's tried, Jun's tried, Gutenberg's too new...I'd rather him stick with the hatchlings and those less dangerous breeds until he's seasoned up a bit more. Not that I doubt his skill, I just don't want him hurt. His wife just had a child about a month ago, he's got a lot going on." He had a far stronger compassion for his team than most people realized.
He knew their stories, he knew their lives as intimately as he knew his own. He'd met their families, children, spouses, and he felt like they were his siblings in the most real sense of the word. "Not saying that I don't have anything of equal worth, that is. I have my children, I finally have an amazing boyfriend that helps me be happy, but I also have skill that he doesn't yet have, but he will develop." He smiled.
His mind flickered to the thought of somehow having him meet his children. It was difficult with Daichi in the Japanese primary school and Tanaka in Hogwarts, but they would both be home for Christmas. It wasn't terribly far off that the students would be returning, save for those who chose to stay in the castle. He'd chosen to stay in London, and his children would be coming to London when their holidays came. Plus, Takumi and Aito would be in London, and Xayden would be in London, so they were excited to see them too. Especially Daichi. Merlin, he'd taken a shine to Xayden over the summer. "This is a little offhand, but, welcome to the randomness of my thought process...the Japanese primary school will be letting out soon for a break and my son will be in London for the duration. I would...very much like if you would...well...if you'd like to meet him...I'm sure he'd love to meet you."
