The wind blew harshly as the snow fell around the young man, but he was not the least bit deterred. There was something important that he needed to do, something that he really should have done a long time ago. Something that involved his twin, his other half. She had been acting strangely for the past few weeks, which was starting to concern him. His sister used to be strong, and powerful.
Now she appeared to be frail, and weak. She was always tired now, and seemed to always appear as if she was suffering from a sort of pain. Her skin was beginning to lose it's beautiful and healthy glow, and was starting to turn pale, she was right now just a few shades darker then he was. Her body was becoming thinner and weaker. It was almost as if she was fading away, leaving him with only a memory of how strong and beautiful and healthy that she once was.
His frown grew as he walked faster, desperate to find his sister. They had been spending so much time apart as of late, him spending time with a beautiful girl named Bella while his sister would spend her time with that one boy. The one who liked her, and wanted to see her smile. It was only now that he realized just how far apart they had drifted, an it bothered him. Something was happening to her, something bad and she wouldn't even come to him, she wouldn't put her faith in her own twin. It was almost as if she was closing her heart to him again, the very same way that she had done when Kaoru had died.
Died. Dying. Death..
The realization hit him like a ton of icy bricks, and he felt his body, his blood run cold. The only time he had ever seen his older sister act like this, was when someone important to her died. She acted like this when death was a factor. Did someone that was close to her die? was she herself dying? The thoughts raced through his head, and he found himself full out running now, to the place that he knew she would be. And sure enough she was there.
His sister stood out there in the coldness of the snow wearing nothing but a thin layer of clothes. Her dulled blue eyes stared up at the sky as the moon shone down on her through the falling snow. Her skin seemed to glow in the moonlight, as did every other part of her. Artemis stood there quietly for a moment, entranced by the beautiful illusion that both the moon, and the snow tried to fool him with before a series of harsh cough shattered the illusion into a million pieces. He was both surprised and horrified that the coughs were not coming from his form, but the form of his sister's.
" Nee-Nee!!!"
He ran over to her, his hands resting on her shoulder, and on her back as she coughed and coughed, trying to soothe something that was bothering her throat and chest. He watched in quiet horror as she coughed up something in her hand, the thick substance dripping from her hand onto the ground below, tainting the pure snow with a brilliant crimson.
It was blood and not just any blood, it was her blood, the blood of the one that had spent their entire life protecting him. The blood of his sister. She was sick, and she had his it from him all along. How long had she been in pain? How long had she been suffering in silence before he had even taken the time to notice? He trembled quietly, his grasp on her weakening. Tears filled his warm brown eyes before spilling out of them, falling down his cheeks and onto the snow below. He felt the girl's free hand move to wipe away his tears, and he allowed quiet whimpers to leave his throat.
She was suffering from the same thing that he had suffered from as a child. The very thing that had almost taken his life, was now going after his sister's.
" H-How long?"
Have you been feeling sick? Have you known? Have you kept this from me?
" How long?"
Do you have left to live?
