Finally, the Slytherin Quidditch practice was over. The small Hufflepuff seeker made her way to the snow covered field, bundled in a coat, wool hat, gloves, and her Hufflepuff scarf. Green eyes lifted and watched the snow falling for a moment, taking solace in the silence that was so loud outside. The snow was so beautiful, so lovely, so pure...that it was hard to keep from admiring it. A smile spread over her lips and she let herself fall back into the powdery snow with a thump, and she started to giggle as the flakes flew upward and around her. It was if they were scurrying away from her.
Dark hair splayed back behind her head and she smiled serenely, upward at the falling flakes. Strays fell upon her lips and melted away, leaving droplets of water where the ice had landed. The kisses of sunshine made it appear as if silver glitter was falling from the sky without a sound. Some people always seemed to associate winter with death, what with the leaves falling from the trees, the flowers falling away, grass too...but in the end of it all, the spring brought far more flowers, more grass, and fuller trees.
She'd casted the warming spell upon herself to be able to better enjoy the cold snow. Part of her wanted to make the shift and lay in the snow in her animagus form, but someone would apt to freak out finding a 280 pound black panther just lazing about on the school grounds. Admittedly, she wished she could have had the form of a cat, but the Headmistress had explained to her that the witch can not choose their Animagus form, but it was the form within her. She was fiercely protective, quiet, and sleek. There was no contest that a panther suited her well, plus there was even a small white streak on its nose where the fine diamond stud was placed on the side of her nose. How cool was that?
Her mind slipped to the upcoming Quidditch season. There were so many openings left on the team still and it was starting to look like there wouldn't be one. That was a shame. She'd actually been practicing on her own and found that her small frame was excellent for flying and she also had the fastest reflexes while moving at a quicker speed. Being slightly paranoid did tend to do that to people, however. She had a good eye too. She might have to persuade people to sign up.
It was then that her mind took a slow turn to where it always wound up. The very person that made her heart beat faster. Seeing him in class a couple of days ago was a joyus thing, and he'd brought her the book she left on the table. That boy was so thoughtful and he kept those butterflies dancing in her stomach day in and day out. He was her crush. Not so secret anymore (thank you veritas serum), but he certainly made it hard to keep her composure.
With that thought, she pulled out her wand and made a swift and easy flick of the wrist. The flakes falling collected together into a steady stream of ever swirling and glittering hearts, drifting through the wind and she smiled slightly. She'd never felt like she might like someone this much, but there was a first time for everything.
