Never was it a dull life here at Hogwarts. Aito watched every moon give way to the next day's sun day in and day out for months...years even. It was as if he lived in one continuous day for most of his life, and he truly hated it with every fiber of his being.
With the upcoming Yule, he had first felt a tremor of excitement when he finally got the nerve to ask his house mate to go with him. Then again...maybe he was being selfish in asking her. Maybe there was someone else she would rather go with. Let's face it, he was no one's first pick for anything really.
The dawn was breaking and Aito was walking down the paths of the grounds, trying to find some comfortable place to sit and meditate for a while. His emotions were a mess from the lack of sleep and he found that it was getting harder to deal with. Maybe he should go to the Hospital wing for a sleeping draught. It could help.
The sun illuminated a cloudless sky and painted it such brilliant shades of pink and orange. The snow was a stark contrast against the light and it often took his breath away to watch the sun rise over the horizion. The waters of the lake rippled across the mirrored sky with a brisk breeze passing by. The cold air burned in his lungs and for a moment, he waited before sitting upon the snow, Indian style, and closing his black eyes. A deep inhale of purely fresh air filled his lungs as he remained there, still, for several moments. He pondered life and death, love and hate...and he wondered why he was always last.
He gave to everyone. He was kind, he prayed, but nothing ever aided him in his quest. With a sharp exhale, he looked up at the light sky and uttered softly, "Nice guys really do finish last. Its insane how right that statement is here." Maybe he'd skip the ball and find Luna a far more desirable date and spend the night in the Room of Requirement...waltzing with his memories.
