Since school had been in session for a while, Scorpius had decided to give himself a break and wander the school grounds. He liked to go to the lake, but honestly he had neglected the rest of the castle at the beginning of the year in favor of the library and the common room. The fact that it was winter played no small part in his sudden need to be outside. Something about the chill upon his face and the lack of students made him feel at ease.
He crossed the courtyard where a small group of students were huddled together, most likely gossiping. Scorpius didn’t like to gossip; in fact, he avoided it like the plague most of the time. He had been the subject of gossip far too often to ever indulge in that himself, unless it was between friends and done only in a playful manner. Then again, one had to have friends that they could relax with before that could happen. Who had the time?
Tuning the group out he took his coat off and placed it on a bench so that he wouldn’t have to feel the cold of it…. And because he didn’t know what people had sat here before him and what they were doing t the time that they did. As he often did he took out some parchment and a quill and began a lengthy letter home to his parents, even though nothing of note had happened over the school year so far.
Almost as if she could read his mind, his silvery owl circled the sky above until Scorpius held his hand out. She landed on him and proceeded to run her beak through his hair (a very odd habit in his eyes, and he wasn’t sure where she had picked that one up).Scorpius moved back a little bit but laughed, tying the letter to her leg."Be careful, Arestel," he said softly, not wanting to alert the gossipers to his presence. As he watched her fly away he still had a rather dorky smile on his face…
Which turned to something like horror when he realized that he wasn’t alone in the courtyard anymore.
