(Background: The original plot line was begun between Noah and Xay for the intricate history of Luna and Artemis. Bella's intent to find out their parent's identities was mentioned first in Meeting of Descendents after the receiving of Artemis' locket in Make Your Own Memories.)
She descended the stairs, running through a series of thoughts that appeared in her mind with a slightly furrowed brow. Maybe there was a book on Modern witches? Perhaps something of the twins' metamorphagi status was mentioned in footnotes somewhere or something. There were not many that she knew of, save the Silver-Moon family and the Tonks family. Maybe there was some common ground between the two of them, or a family that history just forgot about. Was the locket key? It had to be. Just figuring out how it opened was going to be half of the battle! Maybe she could research that as well.
As she disappeared into the castle, and into the library again, she picked up a variety of books with a new sense of determination. She could do this! Maybe she'd ask the ghosts about the metamorphagi students that passed through here. They saw all the students for centuries, and for seven years at a time.
A table toward the back was soon buried in books regarding magical locks and charms, curses, wizarding phenomena, maps of wizarding communities, genealogy of known witch and wizard families in the past century...you name it...it was probably there. She hunched over the stack of books and began to search the book of locks and charms on means of sealing the locket.
So many ways were mentioned, but it was strange to think of charms impervious to magic, so that was the first chapter to look at. The words started to get muddled together with names and dates and methods of using the most outrageous materials to open locks (basilisk spit? Truly? No thank you!) in wizarding history.
After the sky began to dim outside the windows of the castle, she finally went to the book of Wizarding Phenomena and opened it to the back, scouring over the thousands of tiny words printed on the pages. "M...M....ah there you are...Manifestations...Mannerisms...Marriages...Metimorphmagi. Page 1923. Goodness, could this book be any thicker?" She sighed softly with fatigue and flipped the pages forward to the segment on Metimorphmagi witches and wizards.
"A Metamorphmagus (pl. Metamorphmagi) is a witch or wizard with the ability to change his or her physical appearance at will, rather than requiring Polyjuice Potion or a spell like the rest of the wizarding population. They are extremely rare. Unlike Animagi, Metamorphmagi can take a wide variety of forms, changing sex and age, potentially looking like anyone at all, or even just changing a part of their appearances, such as the shape of their noses. Animagi also transform at will, but only into one animal form which is determined by their inner traits. It is never revealed if Metamorphmagi can take the full form of an animal, however it is highly unlikely as its compared to a potion and specifically describes outward appearance changes. Also, a Metamorphmagus is born, not made; it is not a skill that can be learned. There also seems to be a degree of heritability, as both Nymphadora Tonks and her son, Teddy Lupin, were Metamorphmagi, although both of Tonks' parents, Andromeda and Ted, were not. The ability presents very early in life, as Teddy Lupin's hair changed colour when he was a newborn infant, as did his mother's. Ach, the whole wizarding world knows about Tonks and Lupin...aren't there others?"
She turned the page and found the ext one folded sharply into the crevice of the book. She would not have noticed it and continued reading about learning traits of a metamorphmagi, but she looked up at the librarian before carefully using her fingernails to pull out the page. "What in the world, why would anyone do this to a book?" She smoothed out the wrinkles of the paper, and squinted slightly to make out the words, "A case of a wizarding family that gave birth to fraternal twin metamorphmagi is noted from a prominent wizarding community that was lost to Ministry officials after a mass Obliviation of those in the town...-" Bella gasped softly, where was Artemis?!
