Life for Ruby lately had been taking a more stressful turn than she really liked, so much in fact that sometimes she really didn't know what to do with herself. When her brother Onyx had gotten sick again, her heart had felt like someone was literally ripping it out. She had come so close to losing him once already, and the fear that there was even the slightest chance that she might lose him all over again was not a good feeling. And it had felt even worse when instead of wanting her by his side the entire time as he usually did, he had sent her to get Ashlyn. Onyx had always been the kind to have flings, she knew he did she wasn't stupid. But she'd never known him to actually get attached to a girl like he seemed to be with Ashlyn, and Ruby wasn't sure how she felt about. On one hand, she wanted her brother to be happy, and if Ashlyn did that for him, then she was all for it, but another part of her felt as if she was being replaced by an outsider, who wasn't family, and that feeling she despised.

Thankfully, Onyx was better again now, so most of Ruby's fear of losing him had subsided, at least the fear of losing him to death had. But she still couldn't shake the feeling that she was losing her place as the center of her brother's world, not that she'd said anything to him about these feelings, in fact she'd been avoiding him to a point lately, not full on avoiding him like she did with Sapphire, but she wasn't seeking him out as often as she would normally. She was sure he'd noticed the change, but so far he hadn't confronted her about it, which was just fine with her, no way was she willing to admit out loud that she was jealous of Onyx's new girl toy, it was embarrassing enough that she was admitting it in her mind.

This afternoon Ruby didn't have any classes, but instead of hanging out in the common room like she might normally do, she'd ended up wandering the castle towards the grounds. This probably had alot to do with the fact that there was a better chance of running into Onyx in the common room of the house they shared than out in some random place in the castle or grounds. And so, here she was now, entering the courtyards alone, barely paying any attention to her surroundings due to all that was on her mind. Making her way over to one of the empty benches, she sat down, and closing her eyes, attempted to clear her mind.
