It was nearing the end of the summer months, meaning that soon both the coolness of the fall and the beginning of school were both creeping up quickly. This would be the first school term starting since he had graduated at the end of the last school year, meaning that this would also be the very first year that Xayden would not be returning to Hogwarts, something that both excited and saddened the Burman. While he had had a rather exciting last year of school,[being the Ravenclaw quidditch captain and somehow winning the Triwizard tournament had ensured that] he was somewhat depressed that he would not be able to join both his closest friends and his fiancé during their last year. Yes he would keep in touch and yes he would be able to occasionally visit them during the weekends when they had time for him, but it still would not be the same.
He would no longer be able to see any of them daily. He would not be able to tease them about things that had happened in class nor would he be able to steal playful kisses from his fiancé in the hallways. He would no longer get to play quidditch with Noah, nor would he get to see how his team would fare without him. There were so many things that he would not be able to do now and while he truly was saddened by everything that he would no longer have the chance to do, he knew that it was also the start of something new, the start of a brand new adventure for him. He was getting closer to his future, getting closer to becoming the man that he had always dreamed that he would one day be. He was one step closer to becoming an auror, he was one step closer to getting married to the one that he loved and starting a family with him. It was something that was so completely exciting to him and yet there was also something that loomed in the air, something that had made him extremely weary. That was the very reason why he was here at Hogsmeade, waiting for the arrival of the one person that he trusted more than almost anyone else.
Luna Demetriou.
His former rival turned friend that had done more for him than almost anyone else. She was the one person that had searched for him after everything that had happened with Matthias in order to provide him with the comfort and the advice that he needed in order to survive. She understood what it was like to lose the person that he loved, she provided the shoulder that he needed. She watched over him to ensure that he did not resort to doing something stupid in order to deal with the pain that Matthias had caused him. He credited the young Greek girl with saving his life. He credited her with helping him heal.
He credited her with helping him prepare for meeting his Aito.
She had done so much for him and while he truly appreciated everything that she had done for him, he found that he needed her to do one last thing for him. He would ask her to keep an eye on both his friends and on his fiancé during his absence from school, not because he did not trust them or because he did not believe them capable of protecting themselves, but because he was worried about the things that might befall them during his absence. Matthias had proven himself to be both a very determined and a very capable sort of enemy. He had a lack of emotion, a lack of compassion that made him especially dangerous. When he took into consideration, the fact that he had already gone after Aito twice in the past, it made him especially concerned and that was where his friend was to come in.
If ever there was anything that came even remotely close to threatening the safety of either his friends or his loved ones, he would ask the young witch to step in and protect them for him. He would ask her to watch over them for him, and while he knew that it was a lot to ask, while he knew that it was a heavy burden that he would place on his shoulders, there truly was no one that he trusted more than her. She was strong. She was compassionate. She was intelligent and deep down inside he knew that she was kind. He knew that she would agree to what he asked of her.
All he had to do was be patient.
