Sunlight.

The warm and blessed rays of the life giving sun fell down from the sky, blessing the creatures of the earth with a pleasant warmth, something that absolutely thrilled the man as he wandered about the school grounds, happily exploring his new home and workplace. A pair of soft and beautiful blue eyes gazed up fondly at the sky before shutting softly in content only a moment later as a cool and gentle breeze danced through the softly blowing wind, greeting all of those who were outside on this beautiful day with a pleasing burst of cool air. Dark waves of long hair moved through the wind as if trying to dance with the breeze before a pale hand moved to tuck the dark hair behind his ear, a not so subtle smile crossing those lightly glossed lips as those soft eyes opened to reveal a look of amusement dancing in their crystal blue depths.

He could already feel the eyes of the students on him, watching him and judging him even though he had not yet spoken a single word to any one. Multiple muted whispers filled the air, some wondering just who Kaya was and why "she" was barely arriving at such a weird time in the semester. Others were already judging him, quick and muted poisonous whispers filling the air amongst the envious females. Some were already making wagers that "she" was one of those cruel and stuck up young women, that would be mean to everyone who she felt was beneath her. Others [specifically the young men] were openly and loudly declaring just what they would to her if they managed to catch her interest, something that caused Kaya's already amused smile to grow. While he knew very well how easily it would be for someone to confuse him for a student due to his lack of professor's robes and his short height, the most mischevious part of his mind was already stating how much he was going to love seeing the looks on their faces when they realized that the person that they were speaking so crudely about was in fact, one of their new professors.

That would surely be worth a good laugh.

A small, feminine sounding chuckle left his lips before he turned to face the students that were speaking about him with a warm smile. "I hope that we may get to know each other well during our time here together. Something tells me that I will be seeing a lot of you quite often this year." His voice was soft and feminine, something that would further fool a good number of the students and he gave another soft smile before turning and walking away from the chattering youth, seeking to be by himself for a quiet moment before he was required by the headmistress to return to the castle in order to meet with his fellow professors. As he walked through the grounds, his eyes fell on a large and rather shady looking tree, one that would provide the rather tired man with a place to rest for a short while before he was to return to the castle.

The only problem was that there was already another person sitting underneath it. A small and troubled frown splayed across his lips for a moment before the man decided to just go up and ask if he could join the mystery person, after all it would only be for a short while and he had no intention to bother the person with any sort conversation, so with a small and carefree smile the man made his way over to the mystery person, stopping when he was a short distance away, speaking out in a soft voice as he asked if he could join them underneath the tree. " Excuse me, I do not mean to bother you but I was wondering if I may join you underneath the shade of this tree for a short while? I promise that I will not stay here too long and I promise that if you say yes I will try my hardest not to bother you."

It was the usual spot for Takumi to be when he did not have class, or a lesson to be present for. At this spot, beneath the tree that he planted years ago in the memory of his beloved first love. It was here that he remained in the shade, head back against the trunk of the tree, breathing in the smell of the flowers that carried the ever lingering scent of her perfume. There were times that he felt that this tree kept him trapped in her memory, but he did not want freed from it more often than not. He did not want to lose the sight of her in his mind.

Not ever.

It was a reminder of his shortcomings. A humbler. A reminder that nothing was permanent. Not even love.

On this day, he was nearly asleep with his cheek upon the bark of the tree when a voice sounded from the sunlight beyond the shade and one black eye slid open meekly before the deep tenor voice left his lips, "I don't mind if you join me, no. Please, feel free." He shifted to take up less space beneath the tree, gazing up at the foliage with a quiet and wistful smile as the breeze shifted through the leaves and flowers.

He could hear her whispering to him in those brushes of the wind.

It would be a moment before Takumi would speak from his side of the tree. "Are you new here? Do you know your way around alright?" He was usually the first one to show people around the castle. If the speaker was in need of a guide, he would offer. If not, then there was no reason to leave the tree. Besides, the wind was blowing in just such a way that he almost felt her hands caressing his face again.

It would be easier to handle her being gone if he wasn't losing Ren as well. This was just going to be a difficult year for him all around. His nephew was graduating and getting married soon, his brother was falling in love again, and here he remained, clinging to his memories as if he had nothing else to hold onto.

Shaking himself from his thoughts, he spoke finally. "I am Professor Takumi Satoshi, by the way, pleasure to meet you." This time he leaned over to look at the person who had ventured under the tree, offering a quiet smile as his glasses slid from his hair and down onto the bridge of his nose as he tapped them into place with the brush of his knuckle.

"Thank you very much." A small smile crossed his lips when he was given permission by the man to join him underneath the shade of the tree and made to sit down in a spot that was far enough away from the other to respect his personal space and yet close enough so that he could properly hear the other if he decided to strike up a conversation with Kaya. Either way, he was content to sit underneath the beautiful tree, enjoying the scent of the flowers and the sight of his soon-to-be students as they passed by him, his lips forming another smile as he saw some of the especially young ones that would soon be under his care, his heart softening with just how innocent and cute they appeared to be to him at that particular moment in time.

Oh, what he would give to be that young and innocent again! Granted his experience at Hogwarts wasn't as pleasant as it could have been and he honestly was not sure he would enjoy being teased again but he did miss that blissful age of ignorence, where the stresses and worries that came with adulthood did not constantly plague his mind!

Kaya sat alone with his thoughts for a quiet moment before words came from the person that had allowed him to sit next to him and he blinked in surprise for a moment before it finally crossed his mind that the man had been talking to him and another small smile crossed his lips as he tore his eyes away from the students to glance at the man that had spoken to him before answering his question in a quiet voice.

"It has been a while since I have been here but I am afraid that I am not new here. I studied magic here when I was a bit younger, so I am familiar with the layout of the castle." The man was given yet another smile before Kaya returned his attention forward again to watch the students again.

What? he loved kids!

They had been one of the only reasons why Kaya had chosen to return to the school, just so he could be around them and watch them grow. The fact that he could play a part in helping them grow into wonderful people was more than enough to make a feeling of warmth feel his chest. He honestly could not wait to get started!

The man spoke again, introducing himself as Professor Takumi Satoshi and saying that it was a pleasure to meet Kaya before offering him a small smile. The feminine man was quiet for a moment as that name ran through his mind and memory, for some reason it sounded somewhat familiar to him, as though it was a name that he had heard before but after a moment and no recollection, the man simply shrugged it off, assuming that he was wrong in having believed that he had heard of this man before.

"It is a pleasure to meet you as well, mister Satoshi. My name is Kaya Blanc." The man fell quiet for a moment, trying to decide whether or not he would inform the other that he was also a professor before deciding that he would be nice for now." I am also a professor here, I was called by the headmistress to replace the herbology professor who just recently left." It was a bit odd that a professor would leave so suddenly in the middle of the year, but Kaya honestly wasn't complaining. It was a job and he got to be around kids! Who was he to judge?
