They were not far from the Satoshi Estate in Japan, Daichi, Ren, and Tanaka all were off to go pick up some extra school supplies over this long break. Ren trailed behind the two energetic children, laughing at the way they would chase each other along the sidewalk. He couldn't help the smile on his lips as they laughed and played together. The walk was a bit of a distance, yet, they usually did walk. Plus, Daichi was itching to spend time with both of them after spending so much time with his grandparents.
Ren couldn't say he blamed him. He'd be chomping at the bit to get out too.
Daichi ran over to one of the shop windows and looked wide eyed at the collection of broomsticks for the students of the Japanese school that were going into Quidditch. He looked back and up at Ren, "Chichi, can I get a broom?" Ren sidled up behind him and chuckled. "When you're older, yes. Maybe you will grow to play Quidditch, like your uncle Xayden, would you like that?" The little boy nodded fiercely, good Merlin, how he looked up to the Burman.
Nothing could ruin his mood, really.
At least he thought until he heard the single most terrifying sound in the world.
"CHICHI!!! YAKUDATSU!!!" (Daddy!!! Help!!!)
That single feminine scream was enough to send blood rushing into his ears. His eyes shot up, and in that moment he felt the world darken. There was a man, forceably yanking his daughter from the ground and another using magic to get people away from them. He all but shoved Daichi into the broom store, as it was owned by a very close friend of the family. Daichi was already scared and tore through the store and clung to the elderly witch's waist and she did her best to soothe him and keep him from the windows.
He felt his blood running cold, and his jaw was clenching savagely as he took off in a dead sprint after the one holding onto her. He didn't need magic to make people move out of the way. The look of pure blood lust in his eyes was enough to get people to clear off. It didn't take long for him to reach the man, and in an instant, his fist swung back and collided solidly with the soft fleshy tissue of the space between ribs. He faltered, and it was long enough for him to wrench his daughter from him and set her on the ground.
This sorry excuse of a man was about to pass through each circle of hell.
The punch was returned, but fell easily into Ren's palm. The man stared at him, trying to land at least one hit, but all of them were met with an effortless block. Ren's smirk was growing evil as his eyes darkened. "Watashi no ban." (My turn.)
When Ren started to move, it was far faster than the other man. Solid punches were a barely seen barrage of pain, a knee was brought to the ribs, a solid round house kick to the side of the rib cage, and then a solid, magical jolt through the body, causing him to fly back and land with a sickening thud on the pavement.
In one swift move, his whole body twisted with a strong kick placed to the temple of the second man. It was enough to stun him, and he found himself with his foot gripped in the opponent's hands. They twisted, but Ren's body contorted to let his whole body move with the twist, lashing out a solid second kick before landing on his back with a loud groan of pain that made Tanaka cry out his name again and try to get to him.
The clouds were starting to thicken in the sky and the temperature started to plummet sharply. Sub zero winds rocked through him and lifted him up to his feet and his jaw settled as he found a low, predatorial growl erupting from his chest. The second man fell back, scrambling away from the advancing Satoshi as he took slow and deliberate steps toward the retreating form. Frost was shooting along the pavement from the spaces where his boots connected to the street and between crooked fingers as he reached down and gripped him by the throat, lifting him up slowly until he dangled helplessly before him.
"Chichi! Teishi!!" (Daddy! Stop!!)
Ren was too far gone to hear her begging him to show the strangers mercy and felt his fingers flexing and pressing frozen indents into the paper thin flesh on his neck. Rivulets of blood were flowing down his hand and he seemed to only slow the squeezing to savor the feeling of muscles tearing under his fingers.
Then Tanaka started to cry, clinging to his leg as tightly as she could.
He faltered, and looked down at her. He was scaring her.
He set the man down and he promptly fainted, but Ren's whole body shook. He stooped down and wrapped both arms around his daughter as the temperature climbed outside and the clouds parted. "Oh, baby, I'm sorry...I'm so sorry...please, don't cry. I'm so sorry. Chichi isn't mad anymore. I was so scared of losing you...Princess...please don't cry." His voice had completely lost its edge and he was begging for forgiveness out of sheer remorse from this small child.
There was a solid thump from his backside as Daichi connected with him and nearly sent him toppling over.
Oh, Bloody Merlin. He needed to keep himself in check. His fury turned him into something dark, as it happened with each sibling. They all had a demon for accepting their element. He picked up both small children and situated one on each hop, carrying them from this place and back to the safety of the estate, letting them both sleep on his shoulders well after the time they got home.
He would repent to them later.
