Flowers and Experiments {Open}

She had assembled her arsenal and had even convinced Madam Myrna to open the windows of the shop so the smell of incense wasn't so overpowering. She surveyed the troops she had pulled out of storage and only hoped she knew enough about them to not screw up. So with an old rolled up piece of parchment in her back pocket she set off down the front steps on the shop with her Grandmothers old box of gardening tools to the stoop in front of the shop where she had placed a few flowering plants in a wagon.

She added the box to the wagon then headed off down the lane towards the outskirts of the town. If her experiment worked she'd plant some flowers in front of the ivy covered shop, but she had no idea how to work the spell her grandmother had created. All she had to go off was the old handwritten piece of parchment in her pocket and she wasn't to confident in her first attempt.

When she finally made it to the edge of town she continued out towards the shrieking shack. She picked a spot by the fence, a bit away from the pathway and got to work. She wasn't used to planting anything that wasn't small or in a pot, but it couldn't be that hard. Could it?

How wrong she was. The digging part wasn't that hard, but the plants seemed to fight her at every turn. They were being extremely uncooperative, getting caught in her hair, pricking her. She even managed to cut her finger on a rather nasty thorn. But she finally got all 5 plants in the ground and covered to her satisfaction. Merlin they were more difficult then the small herbs she was used to. She stood and brushed the dirt off her jeans before pulling out the parchment and her wand.

Well...here goes nothing...she thought as she stood before the small rose bush that was first in line. She followed the motions on the parchment and the incantation to the T. She frowned when nothing happened and tried again. The bush shimmered weakly once she was done. Was that it? Did it work? She shook her head and moved on to the next plant, Night Flowering Jasmine. This time the shimmer was a bit more consistent. Hmm...perhaps she was getting it after all.

It was a pleasant sort of day, one that wasn't too warm nor was it too cold. The sun shone pleasantly in the sky and filled the earth with it's gentle warmth something that had caused a lot of the students to flock to Hogsmeade in order to enjoy the warm weather and it seemed as though even the professors were not immune to the charms of such weather. Even Kaya found himself drawn to the small village on this warm and sunny day and as he made his way through the village, he found that his gaze was drawn not to the shops but rather to the students that wandered about. There was something about seeing the smiles on their faces, something about hearing their laughter in the air as well as seeing the happiness that was in their eyes that made his already pleasant mood life even higher and as a small smile crossed over those lightly painted lips, he found himself turning away rather than calling out to them. He was sure that they would have more fun if he wasn't there to disrupt their day away from the school and besides, who would want to be seen hanging out with a professor?

His heels clicked across softly against the stone pavement as he moved away from the crowded townsquare, choosing after a while of looking to head back to the castle and spend the rest of his day checking and tendinng to the plants that he grew in his greenhouse and as he reached the bare outskirts of the town, he was greeted by the curious sight of a female student standing by a series of newly plants with her wand drawn, preforming some strange motions and muttering an incantation that he had never heard before much to his curiosity. He watched as the first bush shimmered weakly when she was done and saw the almost displeased reaction that she had before she moved onto the next plant, something that shimmered a bit longer before also stopping.

Well that was certainly interesting.

With a raised brow and a questioning expression on his face, he slowly made his way over to the female student, thankfully recognizing her as he got closer. He waited for a moment before speaking, his soft and feminine voice filling the air as he questioned the young woman. " Pardon my curiosity Miss Tepes, but just what are you doing with those plants there?" Was she trying to help them grow or something?

Meggera had moved on to the third plant, Calla lilies when a soft voice drifted her way asking what she was doing. She almost thought for a moment she was in some sort of trouble, although she wasn't to sure why. She turned to see Professor Blanc there and was relieved it wasn't some other professor who might not grasp what she was doing as easily. She lowered her wand and turned to face her professor before answering.

"I was trying out a spell. My grandmother made it a long time ago and left it to me.” she said, holding up the parchment for a moment. "It's supposed to protect the plants from the cold, frost, and snow...let them live underneath it....” she said, gesturing back to the flowers she had planted there. "I was trying to test it out so I could plant some flowers in front of the divination shop...but it would look weird if I did it wrong and they died while the Ivy kept thriving through the winter...”

Her grandmother had either made or bought this spell, she wasn't sure which, but it kept the ivy that covered the front of the shop alive all year long. If she could get it to work she could brighten the shop up more with flowers, but she didn't want them to die...that would look odd contrasting with the thriving ivy.
