"I went to the woods because I wanted to live deliberately, I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, To put to rout all that was not life and not when I had come to die Discover that I had not lived!"
The Dead Poet Society is an anonymous club run on campus for most of the year.
It is ran secretly by Phoenix Crowe, and is a secret coalition of writers who band together to share their love for the art.
Every member receives a black book of blank papers wrapped in a black envelope. It has a red wax stamp with a quill and a pen in the shape of a cross. Every book contains paper made from the same Ash tree. Ash is an excellent wood for promoting brain power, aids in communication, intelligence, wisdom, and promotes curiosity. Use this wood to remove mental blockages and aid in the promotion of word use and understanding. It is the wood of the writer, poet, and scholar. Promotes spiritual love and health. Protects against unwanted change. Ash is used for protection, finding special roots, and enhances skills of arts and crafts.
Much like Tom Riddle's diary, the books are connected to their brothers'. With the enchantment of a witch heightening it's ability to sense ancestral roots within each other, those who write in it will have their notes appear in the books of others.
One is not invited to the dead poet society. If they happen to pick up The Immortal Poets, a collection of works by poets in the romantic movement, they will find that on page 394 there is a note that says, "Write On Me at 10pm". There, there is a small, piece of paper, ripped out of the middle. In the whole, it appeared as if someone else had glued a whole different piece of parchment into it.
You write on the space, and the ink disappears. Then, a minute later, you will see --In Phoenix's writing--
"Do you wish to join the Dead Poet Society?"
"What's that?"
"Yes Or No? You decide."
If you write back, "Yes" you will see new ink appear. "There will be an envelope waiting for you tomorrow night at 10 pm in Classroom 605 on the sixth floor. Go to the window. You will see a chipped brick, count three bricks to the right, four bricks down, and pull on the loose brick."
It will disappear before new ink adds, "Welcome to the Dead Poet Society."
Occasionally, usually on school nights, a meeting will be called.
Every student is required to wear a masquerade mask and a black cloak, and no one must tell each other their names. They meet outside close to the quidditch pitch, before running into the forest, where Phoenix will lead them to a hole in a rock, which will lead to a large cavern. A fire is lit, and people may bring their books. When they meet, they have a poetry slam, where they can shout and scream over the fire.
There are only a few rules a member must never break.
1. Never reveal your other poets to other people.
2. You must not call yourself by your true name, though Phoenix does, due to the ambiguity of it, and "Rebirth". Every member has an alias.
3. Never let yourself be caught sneaking out.
4. Never take off your mask.
5. You must never talk or write in prose.
