Cackling loudly Madalyn zigzagged down the corridor, bouncing off the walls and jostling portraits. Behind her Filch howled in anger, and Mrs. Norris spat and hissed as she dangled from the chandelier where Maddy had left her, hanging from her tail. Peeves giggled wildly somewhere over her shoulder, egging her on. “Good one girly!” He squealed, before zooming away. It had been a good one, and the stupid cat had deserved it! She thought she heard Filch chasing after her, but she was too far ahead for him to catch.
She slipped into an empty broom closet and pulled off the long blonde wig and Ravenclaw robes she’d been wearing, folding them neatly and stuffing them into the bottom of her book bag. She waited for a moment, digging through the contents of the closet and finding a small mirror and checking her face. Using the sleeve of her sweater she wiped the bright pink lipstick off her mouth and combed down her bangs with her fingertips; just wanting to make sure she looked nice before heading back into the hallway. It was also a nice way to pass the time. Moments later Filch came crashing down the hall, just as she had suspected. Screeching threats and calling for Madame Pomfrey.
Madalyn cracked open the closet door, poking her nose out and looking left and right before slipping back out into the hallway. Her disguise had changed her appearance had changed completely, but now she was back to her original short black hair (which she had cut and dyed at the start of the term) and comfortable street clothes. She wore very short high-waisted shorts, a black T-shirt, navy socks, and worn out, steel-toed combat boots. She walked quickly down the somewhat empty corridor, ignoring the other students and their whispers as they pointed in the direction Filch had gone.
She didn’t have time for them, they were stupid and they all looked at her funny…she just didn’t need them. She had everyone she needed; Elaine and Osiris were enough for her, they understood her…she loved them. She checked her watch and swore loudly, turning on her heel and heading back in the other direction. In all her excitement she’d forgotten her lunch date with Elaine, they met almost every weekend in the great hall and ate together. Madalyn quite enjoyed their little dates…but she knew Elaine hated it when she arrived late and it was almost noon (their designated meeting time) and she was on the other side of the castle.
She picked up speed, running down the corridors, and not trying too hard to dodge the other students. Angry glares and shouts followed her, but she paid them no mind, too intent on making it to the great hall in time. She made it just as the clock struck twelve and immediately looked around for her friend. She spotted a familiar blonde head at the Hufflepuff table and skipped over, her boots smacking loudly against the stone floor. She slid up onto the table beside her friend, giggling like a toddler. “I made it!” She squealed grinning wildly down at Elaine.
