Athena flicked her wand and the thick curtains that covered the windows flew open, looping themselves through the brass curtain hooks that sat in pairs on the small section of wall separated each of the giant stain glass windows. They were filthy, with another flick of her wrist the dust and grime that covered them disappeared, letting the sunlight flow through, creating colorful dust motes that danced around the classroom as the sun shifted. Each window held a different scene from a different culture.
The first window depicted a famous Greek myth, Hercules slaying the hydra. The next showed Zeus, kind of the gods sitting in his throne atop Mount Olympus, lightning bolt in hand. The third showed her namesake, Athena, goddess of war and wisdom, spear in one hand and the thin trunk of an olive tree in the other, her blonde hair flowing in the wind. The fourth showed Perseus holding Medusa's severed head, her eyes full of rage, her hair a mass of green vipers hissing and wriggling in the hero's grasp. Athena knew everyone of the myths that went with the stills, and more. She’d grown up with the stories, with a Mythology professor as a father it was only expected.
However this was not her class, not officially anyways. The current Mythology professor was away, and Athena was the obvious choice to substitute. It wasn’t something she’s wanted to do but maybe with her teaching the class, her students would actually learn something for once. Unlike her potion’s classroom, the mythology classroom had separate desks for each student. In front of the classroom, was a large blank black board. Class would be starting soon, and not one of her students had arrived yet. It irritated Athena, she did not enjoy tardiness, and it pained her enough to be in such a bright classroom, with Athena and Zeus staring down at her, their glass eyes full of judgment.
She walked over to the board, tapping in once with her wand before walking around it before sitting down at the large ornate desk that sat behind it, sliding her wand up her sleeve where she could access it easily. Words appeared on the board, starting from where her wand had touched it. It simply said:Please seat yourself.
Simple instructions for the simple minded.
