Following his sister, Cern ambled towards the train, his parents close on his heels. It was always that way, avoiding enough of the embraces to not be embarrassed if your friends saw you at the same time wanting another hug for reassurance. Unlike the complaints from several he had heard in his house, Cern really loved his parents and if he could have gone home every night he would have found a way. At the same time, home meant chores and on a farm there was always one more which needed doing, hence his rapidly muscling frame, which is mother claimed was very much like his dad causing his face to blush.
He secretly adored being compared to his extremely cool father.
Near the train they stopped for hugs all around as Taranis warned them both about behavior showing people how you wanted to be taken and both nodded. That had been the big stuff this summer, character. "Don't worry, Dad, we're both good. There's no masks with us, everyone knows us as we are," he said not mentioning for the forty-leventh time at his sister's begging plea about not telling her parents about Vincent Silver-Moon. A topic which Cern found twitch-worthy and as his eyes fell on her he wondered how she could stand not telling her father about the boy. He could still remember the conversation.
"Don't, Cern, just don't, okay? Nothings happening. It was just a dance." "Are you out of your freaking mind?? He's a Snake, Kee! And there's no changing that! And it's not 'just a dance' not as close as you all were and wearing his flowers! He's after one thing and one thing only Kee!" "He is not! He was a total gentleman which is more then I can say for you once you saw us!" He really disliked her calling them 'us,' as if there was a chance they might be something more then he wanted. "Kee! Are you BLIND?? He even went DRESSED as a pirate! Ever hear of what all they were known for, like pillaging and ra--" She interrupted him with a snap! "What? Don't you dare say that about him! We're not dating, Cern, now drop it!"
Meeting her eyes even now he knew she was remembering as well those hot moments of argument, one of the few in his memory which didn't turn out well. Giving mom a hug and dad a handshake (which his father didn't care for but understood; mothers could be hugged forever, fathers didn't get the same treatment) he turned towards the train, hoisting his trunk up easily on one shoulder to carry it instead of drag it like his older sister. Then again, this was why he teased her about packing too much to begin with so he didn't say a thing, smirking to himself in minor revenge for having to bite his own tongue.
Damn. He really needed a girlfriend.
