Why? ( Xayden and Open)

Matthias paced back and forth nervously. He had sent a note to Xayden a few hours prior asking the man to meet him at this exact location at this exact time. There was something that was currently bothering him at the moment.

He had heard rumors around the school, rumors that he did not like one bit. People were saying that Xayden had been wooing someone as of late. Someone who wasn't himself. At first, it hadn't had bothered him all that much. The students at Hogwarts had always been terrible gossips, and even if the rumors had been true he still wasn't very concerned. After all, he knew that the handsome burman was still in love with him.

Despite the little fight that happened so long ago, Xayden was still so gentle and loving. He still had that warm look in his eyes, and that special sign of affection that reserved for him. They would be back together soon, or that was what he had once believed. It had been soon after that that he had seen Xayden start wooing Noah Weldings with his own eyes. He remembered feeling his throat constrict, and his heart break. Why was Xayden spending time with that little brat when he had someone like Matthias? Did that little brat slip a love potion into his drink? Yes that had to have been it. Needless to say, Noah Weldings would experience many many "accidents" later that year.

Thankfully, the couple wouldn't last. Xayden would come crying to Matthias over the summer and there he would receive comfort. Noah would receive a painful slap and a very dark and disturbing threat on what Matthias would do to him if he ever tried to seduce " his" Xayden again. After that, all would be happy for a small while, untill others would try and get in his way again. Xayden was seen again with various other men, one being a fifth year in ravenclaw, another being a seventh year in his own house. Those two were easily dealt with.

Matthias's problem, now lied with a Slytherin male that Xayden had become particularly attached to. Xayden gave the boy the look that was meant for him only. Xayden treated the boy the way only he was supposed to treated. Xayden even patted his head the way he used to pat Matthias's. That pissed him off. He was going to get to the bottom of this, and if he found out that that boy was seducing HIS Xayden....he was in for a very painful and terrifying lesson.

Matthias's head shot up as he heard footsteps approaching him. Without even seeing who it was; he closed his eyes and gave the sweetest, cutest close-eyed smile he could manage, and spoke in a very sweet, and cheerful voice;

" Hello, Xayden...I've been waiting for you."

He honestly didn't know just what to expect when he recieved the note from Mattie. After reading it over, and thinking it over for the past few hours, he decided that he at least owed it to Mattie to go and see what it was that he wanted to talk about. After informing his brother, and a few close friends where he would be, and just who it was that he would be talking to, he made his way to the courtyards.

To say that he was nervous was a very big understatement to say the least. The last time that he had spoken with Matthias alone, he had snapped and Xayden had ended up in St.Mungos with various injuries, a very large scar, and the inability to play quidditch for quite a while after. On top of that, Xayden didn't exactly feel comfortable around his ex anymore. Something had changed in Mattie, and he was becomming someone that Xayden wasn't sure that he liked anymore.

Mattie who had once been one of the sweetest boys at Hogwarts, was now cold, and cruel. His eyes that had once been so kind and gentle were now dull and emotionless. He had also become very possessive over Xayden as of late, which was something that bothered the young Ravenclaw male. In his eyes, he and Mattie were just friends. He no longer held any romantic feelings towards the young fin. All he wanted was to simply move on, and have other relationships. That was part of the reason why Xayden had agreed to show up. Mattie's interference, his obesssion with Xayden's life, It had to stop.

He soon reached the the courtyards, and spotted Matthias almost immediately. Mattie had been pacing to, and fro obviously waiting for him. Xayden sighed, and made his way to Matthias, about to greet him, but freezing as he heard Matthias's words. He hadn't looked up, not even once. How could Matthias possibly have known that it was him? with a small almost unoticeable shiver, he gave Matthias a shaky smile and responded as calmly as he could.

"....Hey, Mattie."

A shiver ran through his spine as Xayden spoke his name. His eyes opened, and his smile became smaller, more genuine. His hand went up to Xayden's forehead, gently brushing the man's bangs out of his eyes. God his eyes. They were always so beautiful, and sincere no matter who he was staring at. He had heard endless complaints about Xayden, and how hard it was to read or how hard it was to understand the Ravenclaw male. Those people were idiots. Xayden was like an open book to Matthias, one that could easily be read and understood.

His hand moved down Xayden's face in a slow possessive manner untill he reached his cheek. He began to gently caress the man's soft cheek with his thumb. He moved close to the boy's body untill they were almost pressed up against each other. His free hand moved to grip the other man's shoulder, and his bright blue eyes drooped until they were only half open. His smile became sly and almost seductive as he stared up at the handsome Burman.

" I've missed you, Xayden. It's been so long since we've seen each other." Matthias pressed his face into the man's chest, deeply inhaling the man's scent. Relief immediately flooded the fin's system. He swore that Xayden's scent was like a drug to him; drawing him in and continuously adding onto his addiction. His addiction to Xayden. He was, and always would be the one thing that Matthias could never got enough of. He would do anything to ensure that Xayden would always be his. Anything.

A frown marred the boy's lips as he suddenly remembered just why he had called for Xayden to meet him in the first place. His grip on the man's shoulder became almost painfully tight, and his eyes seemed to darken drastically. An almost inhuman smile took place on the boy's lips as he stared up at Xayden.

" You have some explaining to do~"

The multiple emotions that Xayden felt in that small moment in time sent both his head, and his heart racing. His heart filled with a warm fondness when he saw Mattie smile. It wasn't the usual cold, and condescending one that the boy often wore these days. It was warm, and kind. Loving. The one that had once been able to light up the Burman's world. The one that Xayden remembered in all of the memories that he had of the boy infront of him. It was enough to bring a small, fond smile to Xayden's face. His hand moved to the top of the smaller boy's head, and gently patted it.

The small moment of joy was quickly ended as Xayden fell prey to Matthias's actions. Sea blue eyes widened immensely as he felt the boy's body pressed firmly against his own. He felt something stroking his cheek in a possesive manner and stared up at him with a very familiar almost lustful look in his eyes.

Xayden shivered as his blood ran cold. It was funny how the small actions that Xayden had once found endearing now seemed almost repulsive to him. The body that had once attracted him, now acted as a sort of repellent. The stare that had once set Xayden's blood on fire now chilled him down to the bone. He moved to pull away, frowning as he found that the boy's hold on him was far too strong.

He winced as the pressure on his shoulder tightened, pain suddenly shooting down his arm at the tight grip. Xayden's eyes found Matthias's, his face quickly losing it's color as he took notice of the boy's eyes. They were the same eyes that the boy had had on the night that he had sent the Ravenclaw to the hospital and Xayden had a feeling that if he didn't act now, he would be visiting St.Mungos again very soon in the near future.

Gathering up his courage, Xayden's hands moved and gripped Matthias's, ripping them off of his form. He released the boy's hands, and his hand moved to his pocket, drawing out his wand in case he should need to defend himself. His face was serious, and his eyes were cold, and emotionless as he stared at the boy.

"Matthias, That is enough. I've told you time and time again that I no longer have feelings for you. Despite this, you continue to invade my personal space, ignoring my words as if you cannot understand them. Allow me to word this in a way that you WILL understand. We are not together anymore. We haven't been together for a long time now. I don't love you anymore Mattie." Here he paused, his eyes narrowing at the boy's last words to him. He sighed, his eyes sliding closed, and his free hand moving up to massage at his right temple for a moment. When he spoke again, his voice was calm, and almost emotionless.

"I owe you absolutely nothing. Don't ever make the mistake in believing otherwise."

A frown marred his lips at Xayden's cold reaction to his affection. His dark blue eyes stared emptily into Xayden's for a moment, before glancing at the ground, staring. His blond hair would fall into his eyes, shielding them from anyone's view.

Matthias's shoulders began to shake. His arms wrapped around his small frame as if he was hugging himself. As if he was trying to support himself. Trying to protect himself from Xayden's cruel words.

" W-What did I do wrong Xay?." His voice was soft, and hurt. Beautiful sky blue eyes looked up at Xayden, tears running down his beautiful pale cheeks. Innocence and hurt were reflected in those gentle eyes. The eyes of the sweetest boy in Hogwarts.

" All I ever wanted to do was love you and make you happy, and yet you're bring so cruel to me.." The force of the sobs that left his body caused his body to tremble even more. At the moment; he appeared to be nothing more then a scared little boy, his eyes tore away from Xayden's, and were again hidden by his hair.

"Why?"


His sobs grew even louder as the grip on his body grew tighter.


" Why?"


His eyes looked up into Xayden's again. The hurt and innocence had transformed into hatred and rage.

"Why."


His voice had changed. It was no longer the soft voice that belonged to Matthias. It was deeper, and it did not belong the boy.


" Why won't you return my love, Xay?."


A sinister smile spread on the boy's soft face. The boy reached out, and pointed a wand at Xayden's body. Xayden's wand. The wand that he had managed to steal when he " hugged" the older male.


" When you know that I won't allow you to love anyone else. If you won't love me, then you won't love anyone." A giggle passed through his lips and his blue eyes were filled with a dark amusement. The Matthias that Xayden had once known was no longer here.

" The only way I will ever let you go is if you are dead Xayden."

Xayden could honestly say that after watching Mattie. His Mattie's reaction to his words that he regretted every syllable that had left his lips. He had hurt Mattie. His Mattie. The one thing that he had sworn that he would never do again. The second he saw the tears form into those beautiful gentle eyes, he felt his damaged heart shatter into a million tiny pieces. Yet at the same time he did feel hope. Those eyes belonged to HIS Mattie. Maybe he could still save him.

That hope was crushed when Mattie started his breakdown. Sea-blue eyes watched in horror as Mattie began to lose himself. His beautiful eyes were back to that disturbing dark blue, and were filled with such utter hatred and loathing that the man felt what was left of his heart ache. He couldn't stand being looked at that by someone as important to him as Mattie was. He would rather die.

It appeared that Xayden would get his wish; Matthias had taken something out, and had pointed it at the man's chest. After a moment's realization, his stomach dropped. Mattie had taken his wand, and after hearing Matthias's words, he froze. He was going to die here. Matthias was going to take his life.

Strangely enough though, he wasn't afraid. His heart was in too much pain for him to be focused on anything other then his Mattie, and how even after all this time, he still hadn't been able to save or even help Matthias. That broke his heart.

He felt something wet slide down his cheeks, and it took a moment for the prince of Ravenclaw to realize that he was crying. He wasn't crying out of fear, instead he was crying from his heartache. Nevertheless, he managed to Matthias a small, sad smile through his tears and heartache.

" If killing me will make you happy again; If killing me will take away your pain, and your suffering then do it. I'd do anything to get my Mattie back, even if it means allowing you to take my life in the process "

[Marius Leclair]

"Mind if I crash the party?" A low, almost sensual voice interuptted as a hazel wand pressed into the back of the shorter male's head.

A natural, Cheshire like smirk peeled across his lips like petals falling from a rose, and Marius Leclair stood vividly pissed off beyond recognition as he stood behind Matthias Ojanpera, Xayden's first love. Other's in the courtyard began to look over now as Marius looked away from Matthias for only a moment, only to look at Xayden's horrified, tear-stained face. Those once beautiful burma blue eyes were now filled with crystalline tears, mirrors, all reflecting the love, the horror, the feelings he all felt for Matthias but scraped with fear. Marius' heart dropped in his chest, and suddenly, he gripped Matthias' hair tightly in his hand, hissing loudly enough for Xayden to hear, "You're going to have to get through me to touch what's mine."

He shoved Matthias away from him and Xayden, copper green eyes smoldering with that inner fire that made him the hot-headed prince. He soon switched places with Matthias. Autumn wind blew through the court and rustling leaves as well as long robes were tossed into the air. Thin, pale fingers tugged at his coat and with a flashy show of coat work Marius Leclair had thrown his robes over his shoulder and let them fall to the ground, now remaining in his white collared shirt unbuttoned to the sternum, a tuxedo vest and black slacks. The Slytherin pureblood stood his ground protectively in front of Xayden. He kept his Hazel wand pointed at Matthias, glaring.

Yet, when he spoke, he spoke so only Xayden could hear, and his voice was filled with calm and collected fury. "Xayden Andrews, look at Ojanpera. You nearly gave your life to a man that doesn't give a damn about it. If he really loved you, then your happiness would be as important to him as his happiness is to you." He barely looked at Xayden out of the corner of his eyes, before hazel hues turned once again to Matthias'. "Think about that. Think about all of the people who mean something to you, think about your future, think about your happiness. Look at him, that's not the 'Mattie' you fell in love with." There was a sharpness to his tone that could be mistaken for coldness, but in reality, Marius was so spurned with scorn for nearly losing Xayden that the adrenaline caused him to react out in anger, even towards to the male he hated to admit that he cared about. "'Mattie' may have existed to you, but he doesn't anymore. He very well may never have existed at all." Silence. "What would dying for him do, Xayden?" His heart burned again, as if a scorching fire had reached up it's demonic hands and wrapped their spiraled fingers around his very heart, melting into his veins. "...If you'd just give someone else a chance, you'd see there are better people to love than a man who just wants your life." His voice went quiet into a whisper as he said this, before his voice rose again and he regained his composer, "I'll protect you, so don't be afraid of him anymore."

As soon as he said his last statement, his attention turned back to Matthias, and he took in a cold breath of air, filling his lungs and fueling that same flickering, smoldering, overwhelming fire. Xayden's feelings, fears, and tears were like oil that fueled the fire.

"What are you waiting for, brat? If you want his life, you'll have to take mine."

Xayden's eyes immediately flew to Marius's form in shock. Blue stared into hazel and Xayden could tell from just that single glance that Marius was pissed. His wand was pointed at the back of Matthias's head in a very threatening fashion, and Matthias stood there frozen in shock. Another glance was made into Maruis's eyes , which caused something surprising to happen. Marius had yanked the young Fin back by his hair, yanking him away from Xayden as he said something about Xayden being Marius's; much to the Ravenclaw's confusion.

Xayden's eyes blinked dazedly as he looked down at Marius's small form that was standing in front of him protectively. Tears filled his eyes again as he heard Marius's words. Even if he knew that Marius was trying to get through to him, they still hurt. The tears that had built up, freely fell down his face. He was hurt, he was lost, and his heart had been broken.

" All I wanted, was for him to go back to being my Mattie." His voice was barely above a whisper, and it shook with every word he spoke. Deep down inside, he had always known that what Marius said was true. He knew that the Mattie he had once known and had loved had died the night that he sent him to St. Mungos. He knew that Matthias had only the desire to possess and hurt him. He knew that Matthias no longer loved him. Yet like a fool, Xayden had chosen to ignore the signs, and look it where he had ended up. Mattie had been about to murder him with his own wand. His friend was standing in between them, for Xayden.

He froze at Marius's words about his Mattie not existing. He looked into the fury filled dark blue eyes that Matthias held. He thought about his brothers, his father, his friends and how they would react if they found out that Matthias had killed him. After that, his mind kept going to one single thing. A question that he had for Marius. So he turned his gaze back onto the boy and he asked it:

"Marius." His voice was tired, and weak. His eyes were staring at him with a mixture of different emotions. " Why?." Why are you doing this? Why do you care? Why are you placing yourself in harm's way for my sake? Why are you trying to save me? All of those silent questions were melded into that one word. He waited patiently, his eyes not moving once from the boy's form, waiting for Marius to answer him. He then chose to answer his next question.

" I know that Marius. The Mattie that I loved is gone. He's been gone for a long time. I know now that he's not coming back. I just couldn't let go." His eyes landed on what was left of the boy that he once loved, his heart feeling heavy. " I thought that if he killed me; maybe he'd be okay again. I know it was stupid...but I thought I was going to die. I thought Mattie was going to kill me. I wanted to believe that something good would come out of this."

He turned to Matthias, his eyes dull as he asked the one thing that he knew would break him.

" Mattie...did you ever really love me?, Even a little?. Did the Mattie that you made me think that you were even really exist?" it was the one thing he had to ask. It was the one answer that he needed to move on. He knew that he wasn't going to like the answer he received. His arms wrapped around himself in an pathetic attempt to comfort himself.


" who on earth would want to love an idiot like me?"

Matthias's head suddenly filled with pain as he was yanked back by that nosey bastard of a Leclair. He grunted as he was thrown to the floor, far away from the other two. Anger filled his body as he glared up at the boy across from him, only to be replaced with a rather sick sense of amusement as he heard Marius refer to Xayden as "His."

Loud laughter filled the air as Matthias forced himself up from the ground. His eyes were the darkest shade of blue that they had even been, and there was a very foreboding glint in their depths. It was obvious that he couldn't wait to hurt Marius Leclair physically. Very much so. As a matter of fact, when he was done with the boy he swore that it would make what he did to Xayden look like a couple of harmless scratches. But for now, he'd settle for pissing off Marius.

" You think that he's yours? You think that he belongs to you? that he would willingly become the property of someone like you? Think again. No matter what you do or say. No matter how you act. No matter how you try and seduce MY Xayden; you will fail. His heart will always belong to me. He will always love me."

His eyes glanced at Xayden, so many different thoughts swimming through his head. Once he got rid of the little pest, Xayden would never get the chance to leave him again, of that he would make sure. For after he got rid of Marius, Xayden would be the next one to die.

" You want to hear something really funny Leclair?." He paused, a very sweet smile present on his face as he held up the wand in his hand. Xayden's wand. " This wand here. You recognize it as Xayden's wand right? well it isn't his. Not really. This wand belongs to his brother Edward. Who won the wand from me the night I almost killed Xayden. Xayden begged his brother not to destroy it, and kept it. The wand did not reject him, despite his brother being the actual owner. Our souls are bound together by the bond we have. or had rather."

He smirked at Xayden after hearing his rather predictable questions. Did he ever really love Xayden. Did the person that he used to be ever truly exist. God the other's pain and vunerability was just too delicious. Matthias's dark blue eyes ran up and down Xayden's shaking form.

It really was too bad, Xayden really had been such a beautiful, and amusing plaything. He really was going to miss him after all of this was said and done with. But he had been bad. And bad toys were meant to be thrown away. But he was going to enjoy his last moments with his toy, and he was going to make sure that Xayden truly suffered for what he had done during his last few moments alive.

" Did I ever truly love you?. No. Not really. You were less of a lover and more of something that was meant to keep me amused. Though I have to admit that you were good in bed...."

He paused, faking a cute look of innocence that the Matthias had always used to wear when he was around Xayden; knowing that it would hurt already damaged man even more.

" Nope. He was a lie. I had to lure you in somehow right? and how else then to draw you in with someone who you thought was cute, and innocent. Someone that you would fall in love with. Someone that you trusted more than anyone. Heh, I did a pretty good job, didn't I?"

He then raised up the wand that Xayden had once owned, and snapped it into two different pieces, a big smirk on his face. That wand had been all that had been left of the old Matthias. The one that had loved Xayden. The one that had been loved by Xayden in return. He then reached into his pocket, and grabbed the wand he actually used, and pointed it at Marius. An evil smirk was present on his face as he yelled out the one word needed to cast his favorite curse.

" Crucio!"

[Marius Leclair]

The air was visibly becoming hotter, the tension becoming so thick and violent that it was as if the air was cursed itself. Poisoned air leaked into his veins and encouraged him, beckoning him to speak, to snap, to break. He listened to the whispers that urged him to break him, the whispers that crooned and caressed his heavy heart like a siren, enticing him with sweet forbidden spells that his father had taught him. Yet, he inhaled slowly as crazed laughter entered his ears, and smothered the siren with another irresistible voice of reason. He was not like Matthias, he would never kill, no matter what words were tossed his ways.

When he heard that laughter, he wanted nothing more than to shut the little fucking brat up. He lolled his head to the side, smooth, cherry black hair falling in front of his eyes in strands. He smirked, and cocked his head once in an attempt to get his hair out of his eyes, but fell smoothly seconds later and kept the same position. "You're a better liar than I thought, Ojanpera. Keep telling yourself that if you want to sleep at night." He straight how his shoulders, putting his free hand on his hip as he continued to look at the other, flashing his canines in a superior grin. "Your spell has ended, dear. All the smoke and mirrors have disappeared at last, and your hold over Xayden's heart no longer exists. You heard him--You're not together anymore, and Xayden no longer has any feelings for you."

Marius saw the subtle glance towards Xayden, and Marius looked back down at the wand that Matthias held anxiously. Adrenaline poured through his very veins and filled his stomach with dismal dread that dropped in his abdomen like the anchor of his heart which palpitated so violently he was sure he was going to pass out. All of these questions, all of these accusations, Marius wasn't prepared for it and it twisted the concourse of his mind destructively. He could already hear it, the laughter of his fellow students, the overwhelming acceptance and hatred of the fact that Marius had finally become like the 'bastard' fathers his friends scorned. He could feel it, their breaths closing in on the back of his neck, the feeling of their shoes against his skull, their fists buried within his fragile ribs. And fear filled inside of him. Staring at that wand, hearing the word 'bond', he grew furious, but had no answer.

The scar on Xayden's back was more than just an unhealed bruise, it was a part of him. "You're nothing but a parasite. A worm, feeding off of other people's misery. You're a liar, a fake, and I don't see how anyone could ever love you." Matthias was the scar, feeding on Xayden's beautiful memories of their relationship like a parasite until he sucked all of the beauty out of him and let him die just like that.

And yet, after that, he could hear Xayden's weakened voice begging his name, begging for an answer from both him and Matthias. Bile poisoned his throat, and he felt himself grow sick with the pain created by his heart banging on the walls of his chest, threatening to break his ribs. He went silent, and instead of answering why, he responded to the other's next statement in an also weakened voice. "Xayden," He tried to speak, but his voice went flat and his throat almost choked. Xayden's words echoed in his head from the day on the quidditch pitch, 'I'm a coward, Marius...' "You don't need to pretend anymore, Xayden. I know. I know he's hurt you. But you're not a coward. A coward wouldn't stand here willing to die for the memories of the one he loves." Marius went silent for a minute, before he told him, "I can't tell you that anything good will ever come of it, but I can tell you that you're stronger, braver, than you have ever been. Your love for him wasn't for nothing, it just didn't deserve to be his."

"Live for yourself." He whispered, before he turned his eyes once again to Matthias, who spoke words that even broke his heart.

Suddenly, hatred filled inside of him, and he stood his ground still protectively in front of Xayden. He flinched when he saw Matthias break the wand that Xayden cherished, the last memory of their love--as it broke into two, and fell to the earth.

Paralyzed, Marius was so filled with shock he did not think to block himself when he heard the curse and suddenly felt smoldering, white hot pain tear through every living cell in his body. It felt as if muscle was being torn from muscle, as if fire had been poured through his very veins, melting him from the inside out. A scream tore through the courtyard, and Marius staggered, eyes rolling a bit as he struggled to stay on his feet. A slow chuckle escaped his lips, before he threw his head back, and laughed. He laughed, and laughed, and laughed through the pain that filled both his body and his heart.

Yet, he stayed standing, breathing heavily, laughter dying, the scream stopping midway. Marius opened his eyes wide, choking on air, looking over towards Matthias, before he grinned, looking at the courtyard around him and the people who stared in fear of the man who cast the unforgivable curse and the man that stood during it. And when the pain stopped coursing through his veins, he spoke again, "Why?" His voice was quiet at first, "WHY?!" He yelleda little louder, laughing once more as he looked at Xayden out of the corner of his eyes.

"I guess I'm the idiot, Xayden, because I've fallen so in love with you I feel like this pain is nothing compared to the agony of loving an idiot like you."

He snapped his head up, moving his aching muscles, before he snapped at Matthias, waving his wand in a pattern before he roared, "Expulso!" Pointing his wand at the bench behind Matthias, it was suddenly heated to an impossible degree before it shattered into a thousand sharp, wooden pieces behind him, a sound like a bomb exploding in the air filtering throughout the courtyard.

So Marius had been right all along; all of it had been a lie. Matthias had never once loved him. All of their kisses. Their embraces. The memories that Xayden had once held so dear had turned out to be nothing but a lie. He had given Matthias his trust, his love, his heart, his body. Everything that had made him who he was, he had given to Matthias. Only to have it come to this. He was angry, and he was hurt. Most of all he was done with this. All of this hurt, all of this pain. All of this one-sided adoration was getting him nowhere. It was time for him to move on and let go of the lie. He knew now that if he kept chasing after his memories Matthias, he would be destroyed. Even more then he already was.

His eyes narrowed as he watched Matthias break the thing he had once deemed precious. He had held onto that wand throughout all of this; somehow convincing himself that the Matthias he once had known, would always be with him as long as he kept it. That wand had been his security blanket for months. It had been a symbol of hope to him. He let out a cold chuckle as he let his eyes glance up from the broken wand, to Matthias's face. His eyes were now cold. Ice cold, and they were filled with hatred. Marius had been right, matthias's spell on him was broken. And he would never again allow himself to fall for the evil boy again.

" Did you really think that you could hurt me more then you already have Matthias? You've told me that everything we've ever had is a lie. You've broken my heart, and have nearly ended my life a total of two times now. Compared to that, you breaking that thing is nothing. All you've done is given me strength. I will never fall for your tricks again Matthias. So thank you. Thank you for setting me free from this lie. Now I can move on, and love someone who will actually love me. Someone who will never hurt me the way that you did."

He fell silent as Marius spoke to Matthias. His words were cold, and harsh but Xayden couldn't even pretend to care. The words reflected the feelings that Xayden held inside of his heart right now. When Marius spoke to him, he listened quietly allowing the words to soak in his mind. A weak smile came on his face as he placed a gentle hand on Marius's shoulder, and spoke quietly.

" I've spent these last few years pretending Marius. I'm done living in a fantasy. He's hurt me more then I've ever been hurt before, yet I always blamed myself, saying that I deserved it. No more. I'm done making excuses for him. I'm done sacrificing my happiness so that he can keep doing this to me. I deserve better. You've shown me that." He paused, sending a brief look of disgust at matthias.

" You've shown me that he's not worth dying for. He doesn't deserve my pain. Or my love. He never did."

He paused in horror and shock at the next few events. Matthias had cast an unforgivable curse that had hit Marius. For the first time in a very long time, he felt pure fear. He winced as he heard Marius scream out in agony, and reached out, placing his hands on the boy's shoulders in an attempt to keep him up, only to withdraw in shock as he found that Marius didn't need his help.

He stood on his own, a loud laughter leaving his lips. As the laughter died down moments later, Xayden's eyes widened as he heard Marius's words. He had loved him?! His heart clenched at the information, and broke all over again. The boy had loved him, and all of this time he had been blind. He had been too occupied with his own emotions and problems that he had overlooked Marius's yet here the boy was protecting him.Guilt filled his chest, and he found that he couldn't even meet the boy's gaze.

" I'm sorry Marius. I'm so sorry." He didn't know what else to say. He didn't know what he could ever do to express how bad he felt now that he knew. He didn't look up, even as he heard Marius shout out a spell, even as he heard an explosion, and heard Matthias's screams of pain.

" I don't know what to say. Other then I hope that one day you can forgive me for being blind to how you felt . I'm sorry that you've had to put up with me. And I'm sorry that you're being hurt both physically, and emotionally because of me."

Matthias's eyes narrowed as he heard the arrogant boy speak his lies. Daring to claim that the truths Matthias spoke meant nothing;that he was the one filling Xayden's head with lies. He was filled with pure disgust as he watched the boy stand by Xayden's side. Speaking of things that of which, he knew nothing about.

Their love had been nothing more than an illusion? Nothing but smoke and mirrors? A slow, deadly smirk spread across his face.

" Why speak of things that you no nothing about, boy? It makes you look incredibly pig headed, and foolish." The words were spoken with pure distaste, his eyes looking the boy over with pure contempt and disgust clearly shown in their depths.

"Speak whatever you like of me; I have never had to rub myself up against Xayden to get him to pay attention to me." He was of course, referring to the night the two of them had been on the Quidditch Pitch. Much against their beliefs, they hadn't been alone that night. He had watched in anger and disgust as Marius had flirted, and played with Xayden's head. Pretending to care about the man as he secretly tried to seduce him instead. The boy had had no shame whatsoever.

" I saw everything. How you had yourself all over him. Holding his hand, and touching him even though you two had just met. It appears that you really do live up to that reputation of yours." A chuckle left his mouth as his eyes sparkled dangerously, eying Marius as is he were a bug that he would just love the chance to squish.

His anger died down in amusement as he heard Marius attempt to comfort Xayden to no avail. One look into Xayden's eyes had told him all that he needed to know. He had broken the man just like he had broken that pathetic scrap of wood. Whatever hopes that the Slytherin had had of seducing the man were now gone. He had broken Xayden's heart, along with his trust. If he knew Xayden well; (which he knew that he did) It would be a long time before Xayden would trust anyone else with his heart.

He was very surprised when Xayden looked at him coldly. His eyes were colder then Matthias could ever remember seeing them in the entire four years that he had known him. He frowned as he felt his heart ache a bit. He was quiet for a moment, before laughing yet again. So hard that he had trouble breathing for a moment.

" Who the hell would want to be with somone like you Xayden? You're nothing. I didn't want you. Noah didn't want you. That Ravenclaw, and that Hufflepuff didn't want you. No one wants you. Not even your own mother did." It was a low blow, and he knew it. He had to crush this new confidence that the man was getting, and he had to crush it now.

He could feel nothing but pure joy, and elation after he cast the curse, and saw it hit the boy that he hated. His heart leaped with excitement, and pleasure ran through his veins as he heard the boy scream from the pain that he caused. A loud set of laughter filled the air, coming from no other person than himself. He ignored the multiple sets of eyes that were locked on him as he continued to laugh and laugh and laugh some more. Only to stop when he heard another set of laughter ring in the air, matching and even overpowering his own.

The boy stood laughing just as hard as Matthias himself was despite the pain the older boy knew that the younger one had to be feeling. How was it that he was able to not only stand, but also laugh when he should be on the floor writhing in pain? Then it happened. Something that made Matthias's blood run cold, and time seem to freeze.

The little brat had told Xayden that he was in love with him. He told him in front of everyone that was out there, then called him an idiot after it. His eyes widened in horror. 'No.No.No.No.No.NO! HE'SGOINGTOTAKEHIMFROMME!.' The thoughts ran rapidly through his head, and he began to shake from unrestrained anger and fear. He had to kill them; the both of them and quick. 'Or maybe...' his eyes locked on Xayden who had his attention focused on the ground as he began to apologize. ' I can just kill Xayden, and leave lover boy over here alive. Let him live with the fact that he couldn't save him from me. Let him live with the fact that I took his life, and there was nothing he could do to stop me.' He liked that thought, very much. He raised his wand, and pointed it at Xayden's heart. His mouth opened and the first part of the spell already out of his mouth.

"Avada-"

He was interupted by a very loud explosion, and the feeling of multiple burning hot pieced of something embedding themselves in the skin of his back. The force of the explosion forced him forward, and he landed on his stomach. An agonized scream left his mouth, as he lay on the ground writhing around on the ground like a snake from the pain. He knew that his back was bleeding, and that at least half of the skin on his back was covered in blisters caused by the heat. Despite this, the boy gritted his teeth and forced himself up, ignoring the screaming protest from his back.

"What do you think that confessing to him is going to do for you boy? You speak as though I am the worst possible person for him to love, but what about you? You have that little nickname for a reason. Why would Xayden take a chance with someone as dirty as you?." He paused letting his cruel words sink into the boy's head before making the kill.

" If you really believe that loving him will do you any good, you are mistaken. If you think that standing in between us will change what is about to happen, again you are wrong. Xayden will die tonight no matter what. Do not get in my way, or you will join him."

His wand was raised up again, aimed at Xayden. He made a quick motion with his wand, and smirked. He then quickly switched his target to Marius, and immediately shouted out the petrification spell.

"Petrificus Totalus!"

Marius simply smirked through the other's insults, though he almost blanched at the comment towards him 'rubbing' against Xayden to get his attention. All the color disappeared from his face, before his lips peeled back and he sneered viciously at the psychotic hufflepuff. Somehow, Matthias was there the night that Xayden and Marius met on the quidditch pitch, and yet his words angered Marius past the point of no return. There was a hatred in his eyes at all the words tossed at him, and Marius scathingly grimaced with an acrimonious glare as he seethed, "Shut the hell up you worthless piece of trash, how dare you pervert my friendship with him. You adulterated slime, that was kinship and nothing more. I would never..." And yet, was that really true? It was as Matthias said, he was 'dirty', the slytherin playboy.

He felt darkness lick at his arms as if he was naked, and suddenly he felt cold as he was filled with dismal acceptance of his corruption. He had made many mistakes, and openly sought the comfort other's arms brought him and openly accepted those that sought his own arms. Though he would argue he was selective, he was beginning to question that as well. With Azure gone, he was a loveless being, rejected, and he knew the only worth he had was his charm--his face. And yet, being so close to Xayden, seeing how much he loved other people, hearing his history, for the first time Marius felt as if perhaps there would be a single person in his life that could care for him earnestly. Someone who cared about his fears, and cared about who he really was deep inside that coarse, flawed black heart. And he cared for Xayden.

He couldn't stand every word Ojanpera spoke negatively about Xayden broke his heart, and every time he saw the other flinch he wanted to wring Matthias' little neck until he saw the light fade from Matthias' eyes. He could only look at Xayden with soft, worried hazel eyes, wishing he could simply put a hand on the other's arm and cover his ears so he would no longer have to listen to the plague that escaped Ojanpera's mouth every time he spoke. He wished he could shield the man from any more pain...

And yet, when Xayden spoke at last, his heart soared listening to the fact that he had finally turned his back on the lies the hufflepuff tried to pollute him with. Even if he was not the one that Xayden deserved, he felt so relieved. Somehow, so relieved...

Relieved and crestfallen. Xayden was going to move on, but crestfallen because he wondered how this was going to effect the elder Ravenclaw. He was proud of Xayden, and comforted when he felt the other's hand gently touch and squeeze his shoulder. And then it happened, the curse, the laughter, the duel had begun and Marius was shaking from head to toe from the pain that continued to scream inside of every inch of his flesh.

He watched as the man collapsed on the ground, back burning, flesh boiling as if it was water in a kitchen kettle. Smoke filtered through the air, somewhat distorting his clear vision on his opponent. He kept still, recovering from the cruciatus curse and the realization that, had he hesitated a second later, Matthias would've killed Xayden.

He had to protect him, even though he knew that, he didn't and would never deserve Xayden. He would protect him no matter what the cost, so vowed his aching, love-ridden heart, that could only think of the pain of the fact that Matthias was right. "Who the hell would want to be with somone like you Xayden? You're nothing. I didn't want you. Noah didn't want you. That Ravenclaw, and that Hufflepuff didn't want you. No one wants you. Not even your own mother did."Suddenly, Marius snapped, spitting at the other contemptuously, "Shut up and speak for yourself."

His voice died down, and in a feeble whisper, he spoke, "And that's not true...I want him."

His eyes suddenly snapped open wide, and he smirked again, before cockily replying, taking a few steps away from Xayden and gesticulating a bit, "I don't need him to love me like you do. I want him, but that doesn't mean I will ever put my own happiness above his own. You're an obsessed little freak, and I think he'd rather date a playboy than date a filthy murderer and liar like you ever again." He brushed his dark cherry black bangs out of his face, before turning his head a bit towards Xayden, half lidded eyes showing that same, horrid acceptance. "Please don't say sorry." His voice cracked on the word 'please', and his arrogant faccade almost faded. Almost. "You need to stop saying that. Nothing ever was, nor will it ever be, your fault."

He turned his head slowly, and suddenly, his heart dropped in his chest as he watched the other's hand slowly raise and point itself at Xayden. Marius's eyes opened wide and he rushed to throw himself in front of the man, but he watched that horrid wand slowly change direction and point itself at him. As the words 'Petrificus Totalus' escaped Matthias' lips, he had thrown his arms wide and shouted, "Protego Totalum!" There was a sound of white noise as an invisible shield temporarily opened in up in front of them, And the hex was deflected into the sky. Yet--the force of the hex hitting Marius' shield forced him to fly backwards into Xayden, his back colliding with the taller man's chest and a push them both backwards.

Marius shoved his feet into the ground as soon as he could, taking as much force as he could to his legs before he sank into the other man's arms briefly, relief filling him before he stood up straight again, snarling out a conjuration spell, "Locusidious." That silent earth was once again filled with a loud buzzing noise as insects began to explode out of the tip of his wand. A deafening swarm of locus caused the air itself to vibrate as wings chopped at the wind, and Marius' voice was almost muted by the sound as he dragged his wand to point towards Matthias. "Oppugno." At that word, the insects buzzed violently, almost screaming as he swarmed around Matthias, circling him and cutting off any escape.

Xayden's heart froze as he heard the words that Matthias spoke to Marius. His blue eyes glanced over at him, and widened. He could tell that the words that Matthias said affected the boy, even though he was trying to put on a brave image. His hand made its way to Slytherin's shoulder, and gently squeezed it in an attempt to comfort him. His dark eyes were trained angrily on Matthias. Matthias could say whatever he wanted about Xayden. He didn't care. But when he started talking like that to someone who he cared about; that was where he drew the line. He would not stand by anymore as his ex insulted and hurt the person who had done nothing but comfort him. Not anymore.

"Matthias if you really knew me as well as you say that you do; you would know that I dont care about any of that trivial stuff. You would know that when I love someone, I love them for everything that they are. I don't care about what they've done in the past, or the mistakes they've made . I care about them. I care about if they love me. I care about the relationship we have, and love we share. I thought that was apparent when I became your friend after all you did to me. "

His heart grew cold as he heard the words that were directed to him. No one wanted him? That caused his confidence to shatter into a bunch of little pieces. What he said was true. The longest relationship he had ever had had been with Matthias, and he had just found out that matthias had been acting the entire time. Was he really that unlovable? Was he really that bad of a person. He was beginning to doubt himself when he heard that one, feeble whisper from Marius.

"I want him."

His heart warmed up after hearing Marius's words. Any self-doubt that he had felt melted away. Someone did love him, someone did care about him. He wasn't unlovable after all. He closed his eyes and listened carefully to his words. He had someone that was willing to put his happiness before their own. A small, but true smile made its way on his lips, and his hand moved over to Marius's head, gently patting it. Xayden's sign of affection.

" Thank you." For all that you are doing for me. For being there. For comforting me. For being my friend. For protecting me. For caring. For giving me the courage to move on. " For everything Marius." Those few words conveyed everything that the man felt. The gratitude, the emotions that were running through his form. His eyes moved toward Matthias again, and his smile dropped.

" I truly pity you Matthias. You have single handedly ruined any chance that you may have had at happiness. No one in their right mind would be with you after all you've done to me. No one will hire you after this mess; you'll be lucky if you're not locked away in Azkaban." his tone wasn't cold, or condescending it was just blank. As if he was talking to just the air. As if he was talking to someone he had lost hope for. He turned back to Marius and gave another small smile.

" Fine then; I won't apologize anymore"

When they had been thrown back by the force of the hex, Xayden immediately wrapped his arms around Marius trying to take the brunt of the force so that Marius would not have to suffer through any more pain then he already had. When they finally stopped, he felt the boy relax in his arms for a moment before pulling away, and shouted out a spell that had a large swarm of insects bursting from his wand. Another word and the insects flew forward, intent on attacking Matthias.

His eyes narrowed in slight worry as he watched, he really wished that he still had his wand. This was going to be a very dangerous duel, and while he did have faith in Marius, he also knew how dangerous Matthias could be.

" Marius. You need to be very careful. Mattie's favorite spell is Crucio. But he knows how to do all of the forbidden spells. He's really good at hexes too; but defense is his weakness. He's really slow at the defense spell, and he's not that good at casting it. A strong enough spell should be able to break it even if he does cast it." He would have never thought he'd help someone fight matthias but this had to end. It had to before someone was killed.

He had caught the way that the boy trailed off and smirked in victory. He knew that he had won, and that he had caught him red-handed. If Matthias himself was trash, then what did that make Leclair? Obviously something even worse then that. His thoughts were reflected on his face as he gave a rather twisted smile.

"Couldn't even finish defending yourself could you Leclair? And you have the nerve to call me trash, well then what does that make-" He was interupted by Xayden much to his displeasure. His glare grew colder, and colder as he listened to Xayden's words. He was saying that Matthias didn't know him. That Xayden loved everyone regardless of their mistakes, and that he thought that that was apparent when they became friends again. A small, bitter laugh left his lips as he glanced at Xayden.

"Then why did you leave me after our fight Xayden? Why did you avoid me for half a year after we broke up? why did you chase after others instead of going after me? Why did you sit there and watch as I wasted away Xayden."

Tears left his dark blue eyes, and fell down his cheeks, yet he made no move to whipe them away. His eyes remained locked on the man, seeming to never blink as they continued to stare, as if he was observing some rare animal. After a moment a small deranged smile made it's way on to his face, and the pupils in his eyes constricted, highlighting his hysterical state. He was done playing games with the two of them. It was time to get serious.

"How dare you use those words in front of me Xayden Roubsouay Andrews. How dare you say that you loved me. I will never forgive you for leaving me Xayden. Never. I will not rest untill the ground here turns red with your blood. I will not stop untill I see the life leave those beautiful eyes of yours. If you will not be mine and only mine, then you will not belong to anybody. Not to Noah. Not to that Beauxbaton woman. Not to Leclair. No one."

His wand was raised up again, eager to put them both out of their misery when something made him stop. Xayden had smiled at Marius. The same smile that he always used to give to Matthias himself. He watched in horror as Xayden lifted his hand, and placed it on Marius's head gently patting it.

That was his sign of affection; the one that Xayden had always saved for Matthias. Could it be possible that Marius had already stolen his place in Xayden's heart from him? The tears flew down at a much more rapid place as he felt a strong constricting force grip at his heart. His breathing came out in short, rapid breaths and his body shook from the pain that was taking place in his chest.

A slow, and agonized scream echoed out into the air as the boy gripped at his chest. The pain that he suffered from the burns was nothing compared to the pain he felt in his chest after watching that scene, feeling as if someone was currently trying to rip his heart out of his chest. His hair fell into his eyes, shielding them from their view even as Marius shot the insects at him. He raised his wand without even looking, and uttered a simple spell.

"Avis." A flock of small birds were shot from his wand, chirping loudly as they flew about. He aimed his wand at all of the bugs, and shouted the following loudly, moving his wand in a quick circular motion around his body as he did so.

"Oppugno." The birds chirped loudly, and attacked the bugs. Some of the bugs were eaten, while others were killed mercilessly reflecting just what Matthias would do to his enemies if he was given the chance. After a few moments, all of the bugs had either been consumed, or destroyed. Matthias's birds flew around above for a few moments, waiting for their master to give them his orders, when he immediately canceled the charm, causing them to disappear.

" You can't take him from me Leclair." It started off as a whisper. Something that was so weak, and quiet that it was almost pitiful. His eyes never left the ground as he continued to speak, his voice growing louder and louder with every spoken word.

" I do need him. More than you will ever know. He is the reason I live, the reason I am able to breathe. You will never understand what it is like. What it is like to feel the way I do for him. When he is with you; I feel like I am dying. I cannot stand it, so I will not." Here he slowly looked up, his eyes filled with bitterness and hatred as he glanced at Marius.

"He cannot live now that I know that you are in love with him. You will be the reason why he leaves.You will steal him from me. I already know that he...he will fall in love with you." He spat the words out as if they made him sick, and the tears started falling again.

"You would take him from me. Humans are selfish like that, and you two would be happy. I would be left to die alone. Can't you see? As long as Xayden is alive I need him to stay with me. If he is alive and he leaves me to be with someone else, then I will die. I can't let that happen. I just can't. So he will die here. You will move on, and so will I." 'It will be better this way.' He didn't pay attention to Xayden anymore, even as he gave out his weaknesses to the other boy.

He raised up his wand toward Xayden and laughed coldly. " I will see you in the very depths of hell Xayden. Wait for me there, I have a feeling that we will be meeting shortly." With a very quick motion, he called out the spell that he knew would give him an edge in the duel.

" Mobilicorpus." He laughed darkly as the spell hit Xayden, and moved his wand to the location where he wanted him, which was right infront of him. He planned to use the man as a shield of sorts, and fill Marius's head with lies. Lies that he would let Xayden go if he abandoned his wand. Then when it was clear, he would kill the boy right in front of him. When Xayden was moved in front of him, he wasted no time and pressed his body against the man's back, the wand pointed directly at Xayden's heart.

"Move even an inch and I'll kill him right now where he stands in the most gruesome and painful way I can think of."
