Despite the Darkness that enveloped him, despite the pain that filled every cell in his entire, magical body, Xayden's voice was able to shine through it all like a holy light. He didn't care. He didn't care about Marius' mistakes nor the major flaws in his personality. Yes, he was a player of hearts and bodies, owning a wing of them left and right. But there were good things to him that others--that Matthias, Azure, Xerxes, couldn't see.
Xerxes.
Marius suddenly understood it now. He understood why his heart would skip a beat whenever he heard Xerxes' name, and why his stomach would church and twist whenever he saw that man with another woman. He understood why he hurt played with Xerxes, pretended he didn't care, pulled his 'pigtails' and treated him like untouchable garbage. And the realization made so much bile rise in his throat that he felt as if he was going to vomit from the sheer disgust at himself. He had feelings for Xerxes Zabini all along, but because of his fear of homosexuality, he had never even considered it a possibility.
All of those years wasted hating the person he wanted to be loved by. All of those years being hated by the person he wished had seen through him.
Knees weak from the other's words, he was supported by Xayden's impossibly strong arms, and suddenly, all of the guilt, the pain, the numbness disappeared and Marius was looking up into those beautiful almond shaped blue eyes and felt himself melt into the memory of something far more pleasurable. In that one, single, supportive moment, when he felt Xayden's gentle hand rub his head, every painful memory seemed to simply...fade away.
Unconsciously, he began to lean up on his toes to try and reach the other's handsome face, shallow breath giving away his nervousness. And with every passing second Marius moved closer to the other's lips, eyes glazed over with unshed tears; Yet, before their lips touched, Marius stopped, an immediate blush dusting over his cheeks as he suddenly turned his head coldly in embarrassment. Instead of kissing the other, he merely whispered, "You know that what he says isn't true. Just because Noah didn't want to date you, it doesn't mean he doesn't love you. It's the same for all your other ex's...Your brother loves you so much, too." Marius reached up a gentle hand, briefly pressing the back of it to Xayden's face as he whispered, "We all want you to be a part of our lives. We all just...want you. I want you i-in...in every way, and more. I want you more." His voice eventually died off, and he seemed to lean forward again--lips so tantalizingly close, his breath gently washed over Xayden's mouth.
His heart was beating out of his chest...Perhaps, this was fate. Perhaps, he was meant to love Xayden more than he loved Xerxes.
And then Matthias spoke again, and Marius' tore his hands and face away from Xayden's to snap, "He left you because you didn't deserve him, you hurt him, and nearly killed him. That's not cowardice, that's intelligence."
The blast happened, and so there was a battle between bird and prey as the locus were steadily gobbled up by the summoned avians. Marius' brow furrowed as he listened to Xayden, and he looked at Matthias' through the remaining spray of insects calculatingly.
Not long after, Matthias spoke again. "You can't take him from me Leclair." And Marius smirked and hissed, "Watch me." Cold laughter filled the air and suddenly he felt Xayden ripped up into the air from behind him, and Marius' pupils dilated wildly as he watched Xayden Andrews in the arms of the psychopath that wanted to kill him--out of reach, wand at his heart.
Marius' heart began to palpitate wildly in his chest as he was filled with utter terror for the second time in his life. Sheer pain nearly made him stumble, but the threat prevented up from moving a single inch. His arm was extended, pointed at Xayden and Matthias, and he was frozen like a statue. Wild, hazel eyes searched the students who hit behind the pillars, begging them, Please, Please save Xayden. Someone step up. But no one did, and Marius became frantic, adrenaline pounding through his veins as if it was an African Drum on the wild planes, wild music sounding in his ears: thump, thump, thump like some sort of devil's song.
No one stepped forward. COWARDS, COWARDS, ALL OF YOU, XAYDEN IS ABOUT TO DIE, TO DIE. And you fucking cowards won't step forward to put this man down. Hazel eyes looked back at Matthias and Xayden now, filled with terror...and yet, suddenly, all the tension and fear inside of Marius disappeared. He became unnervingly calm. He didn't need some cowards to save them. He could do it himself.
Gripping his wand tightly, he mentally screamed, a silent spell, begging it to work.

When Marius reopened his eyes, he looked Matthias straight in the face, and told him. "Don't kill him yet." His voice was emotionless, defeated.
"You want to punish him for loving someone else, don't you?" His eyes were fearless. "Then punish him. Break me. Punish him for even thinking of loving someone like me. Punish him for hurting you, for turning his back on you, for everything. Bring me to the brink of death, and then kill him. Make him suffer, and punish me, the slut who took your boyfriend."
Xerxes.
