At a table somewhere in the middle of the Three Broomsticks Inn, Jay Mustang lounged in his chair, his arms behind his head. As he took a sip of his fire whiskey, Jay sighed. He had turned thirty-four a few months ago, and was getting more and more depressed about it. Layla had made him celebrate his birthday, which wouldn’t have been so bad if she hadn’t insisted on putting thirty-four candles on the cake. And one for good luck. Thankfully Jay had been able to smile and laugh. In all honesty, he wasn’t that old. His parents were in their sixties, which wasn’t even old especially for a wizard. After all Albus was born in the 1800’s and died in 1997. Somewhere in the back of his mind, Jay chuckled, thinking that Albus would have enjoyed seeing the twenty-first century. He would have especially enjoyed the Muggle hysteria surrounding it.

So with those thoughts in mind, Jay decided that being thirty-four may not have been such a bad thing. It was being thirty-four and alone that was a problem. Jay had always been a romantic and a flirt, but somehow he ended up with a child but no spouse. And while Layla was the apple of his eye and he loved her to pieces, he would love to have another parent for her... someone to love him and hold him when he was sad or worried. Layla was a wonderful daughter, but sometimes Jay felt lonely. Even a simply physical relationship would do at the moment.

He heard a noise, snapping him out of his thoughts. Turning to locate the source of the noise, Jay saw a face he hadn’t seen in quite some time. An old student of his, Theodore Larsen was standing at the bar, ordering a drink. Raising his eyebrows when he saw the ex-student turn his way. Theodore was no longer a boy, and he had grown into his manhood quite well, if you asked Jay. Gone was the awkward boy that had blushed at a simple kiss, and standing across the room from him was a confident man, who knew the extent of his sexiness. Jay was definitely impressed.

[Professor Theodore Larsen]

Theodore entered the three broomsticks silently, slowly making his way towards the bar. He'd just left Hogwarts, preparing his classroom for the start of term. It was both exciting and terrifying, the notion that within a few days he would actually be teaching as a professor at Hogwarts of all places! It made his head spin. He should have been returning home to pack his things and spend time with Sebastian and Dianna...but he just couldn't. Not yet. A large part of him felt guilty for taking the job, especially when Aurora was so close to having their third child...but he was tired of staying home all day.

It wasn't that he didn't love his children, he did he just...needed more. Reaching his destination he leaned against the bar, ordering himself a drink. Fire whiskey, usually he preferred wine, fine reds, but here at the Three Broomsticks there was a bit of a limited menu. He received his drink and straightened up, running his free hand through his dark hair. He examined the room, for some reason it felt smaller than it had when he was a student on one of the school trips to Hogsmeade. He took a quick swig of the fiery liquid, scrunching up his face as it scorched its way down his throat.

He examined the room, his eyes falling on a familiar figure sitting in the middle of the room. "Professor Mustang?" He questioned, quickly making his way towards the older man. "Is that really you?" he was both shocked and delighted. He had no idea he'd be run into any of his old professors during his brief visit before the start of term. He stopped beside the man, holding his free hand out to shake. "It's me! Theodore Larsen, I was in your Astronomy class! It's been ages!"

Jay continued grinning at his ex-student as he continued to wonder what Theo looked like without all those unnecessary layers. Well, necessary until he―Jay shook the thought from his head. These were not proper thoughts to be thinking about someone that he used to―oh who was he kidding? He flirted with students all the time, but somehow it felt... different. Especially since Theo had known him when he had been much more proper.

Seeing the man approach him and extend a hand, Jay took it and shook. He gestured towards the empty seat across from him as he laughed lightly. “Of course I remember you... but you’re different now. You seem much more confident.” A nostalgic smile crept onto the corners of Jay’s lips as he spoke, until he started laughing lightly again. “I’m still a professor, you know.” And then he sighed. Part of him had wished he had taken up the offer he had been given, and become an auror. But there was another part that enjoyed teaching, not the paper work part of course. The rest of it though, gave him a particular sense of joy that he didn’t really think he would have gotten as an auror.

Sure he would be doing a great amount of good, but Jay preferred to be teaching future aurors and ministry workers, guiding them through their hardest years so that they find their paths. And seeing Theo, a student that he had taught, recognize and be happy to see him made Jay practically giddy with excitement. Thankfully he was able to cover it up relatively well.

He smiled fondly at his ex-student, wanting to know all about his life after Hogwarts. Jay had so many questions, but instead he simply asked. “How have you been?” And hoped that Theo would fill in the blanks. Most people did like to tell their ex-teachers what was going on in their current lives.

Theo grinned back down at Jay, for the first time taking note of his features. There was no doubt that Jay was an attractive man, he had aged well. Theodore couldn't help but stare at him. Jay's handshake was firm, trustworthy, the kind of handshake that told you: 'Hey, I'm a real cool guy.' Theodore released Jay's hand set his drink down on the table, taking the seat Jay had indicated.

"Confidence is one of the many things age has granted me," He said chuckling softly "That and facial har." He stroked his stubble in a joking manner before picking up his drink and taking another sip. He set his glass back down on the table raising an eyebrow at Jay. "Really now? I thought you would've moved on to something more suitable, like modeling." Theodore smirked, swirling what remained of his fire whiskey around the bottom of the glass in a tiny amber whirlpool.

His flirtation was obvious, but he couldn't help himself. The alcohol hadn't started to effect him yet, besides a fuzzy warm yet slightly painful feeling in the pit of his stomach. But he still couldn't help himself, something came over him when he was around people like Jay. Attractive people. He ran a hand through his hair again and leaned back in his chair, still smiling at Jay. "How've I been, that's a good question." He paused, pursing his lips in thought before continuing "Truth be told I've been quite well, I just got a new job, family life is thriving...everything is great."

His words were true for the most part, everything was great...but there was always room for improvement. There was always something missing, what it was he never knew, and he doubted he ever would.[/color]

Raising his eyebrows at the modeling comment, Jay smirked. Theo really had grown confident; the boy that Jay had known would never had said something so bold without blushing. “Why thank you.” He laughed lightly, his voice smooth as usual, sultry without entirely meaning to be. Seeing Theo’s smirk was also new, and very much welcome. Overall, Jay was thuroughly impressed with the how time had treated his ex-student. Though, with Theo’s current looks and confidence, Jay was very surprised that he was hitting on old teachers instead of being home with a gorgeous wife.

Despite his surprise, he couldn’t help but feel flattered by Theo’s flirting. His smirk wavered into a frown when Theo spoke about his family. A second later the frown morphed into a wistful smile as Jay began to speak. “You have a family?” He chuckled slightly to try and keep the mood of the conversation light, “Then what are you doing flirting with me?” This time he actually laughed, it was still light, but he couldn’t help it. No matter how strong his moral compass was, the thought of Theodore Larsen cheating was just such a different image from the boy he had known so long ago.
