We are one (Artemis)

Two forms sat side by side underneath the largest tree that stood by the side of the Black Lake. The two sat in the cool shade, far away from the gossip and the peering, judgemental eyes of the others, isolated. Two halves of one whole. Two parts of a soul. The perfect mixture of light and darkness, hiding away from the world.

The youngest of the pair (a male with such feminine features that if one didn't know any better they surely would believe that he WAS a female) lay next to his sister with his head in her lap. His beautiful brown eyes were closed from the world, lost in the beauty and wonder that filled his dreams. His right hand layed on his his chest, holding onto his twin's in a very light and gentle grip.

The second of the duo; his twin, she was very much awake.

Her beautiful blue eyes stared seemingly out at nothing as her free hand gently stroked the soft hair that lay on her brother's head. Her eyes would narrow at any person that she felt got too close to them, sending them a rather icy glare that would usually stop them in their tracks, before causing them to walk in the exact same way that they had come.

She did not like people that she did not know for she did not trust them.

A cool breeze drifted through the air, and Luna immediately glanced down at her brother; her brow furrowing in slight concern. While her brother was much more healthy than he was as a child, she knew that his immune system was still weaker than most. It would be very easy for him to fall into his previous sickly ways.

" Artemis..." Her voice was soft, not wanting to startle him awake. There was no need for that, Artemis was usually a very light sleeper and woke very soon after being called. Sure enough, a few moments after being called, the boy began to stir, his warm brown eyes opening and looking up at her in confusion.

A small, fond smile made it's way across her lips and she gave him a very fond look, as she began to gently stroke his hair again.

"It's getting cold out here and I'm worried that you might get sick if we stay out here. Let's go to the Ravenclaw tower, you can continue your nap up there."

Artemis was shaken from his sleep by a soft voice, quietly calling his name. His warm brown eyes opened and stared up at his sister, before smiling warmly at her. His hand gently squeezed hers. He knew that his sister had been up, and watching over him the entire time that he had been sleeping.

She was just that protective over him, something that had developed in her time spent watching over his sickly self in their youth.

She had always been by his side no matter what misfortune had befallen him, be it his sickness, or his unintentional isolation by most of their peers ( in which she had actually chosen to isolate herself as well, instead of leaving him to be alone) or the many other various things that had seemed to go wrong in his life.

Likewise, he had also made sure to be there for his sister whenever her strong walls began to crack. He had been there to hold her when she would wake up trembling from the nightmares that had haunted her every time she tried to sleep. He was there to hold her hand in an attempt to comfort her back when he was ill. He was there to help her through everything just as she did for him.

He was torn out of his thoughts as his sister began to speak again, suggesting that they move to the Ravenclaw tower while stroking his hair and giving him the fond look that he knew she only gave to him. As a cool breeze passed by, he gave her yet another warm smile.

Even if she didn't say it out loud he knew that she was still concerned about his health, and as a result she would go to the extremes in order to make sure that he remained healthy. So instead of complaining or insisting that he was fine, and wanted to stay outside, he gently squeezed Luna's hand.

" We can do whatever you want to do nee-nee. I'm happy with anything as long as we spend time together."

Her eyes softened considerably, and she stood up; calmly brushing the dust from her clothes as she did so. Her eyes turned from her clothes to the boy that was still sitting on the ground. She gave him a soft smile, before offering her hand, pulling the boy up when he grasped her hand in his own. Her hand made it's way to the boy's hair and gently messed with it. A small, amused chuckle made it's way out of her throat when her younger brother protested, and gently swatted her hand away from his hair, his hand calmly moving as he made to fix it. He had always been sensitive about his hair, something that had always amused his older twin.

" You fuss more about your hair then I do about mine Artemis..."

Her voice was soft and quiet and held a slightly teasing tone to it as she spoke, an amused smile making it's way on her face at the pout that her brother had on his face. He really was ridiculously cute at times.

" Come on now, up to the Ravenclaw towers before you end up getting sick."

With that said, the twins linked hands with one another and began their journey back to the Ravenclaw tower. Students who were in the hallways would stop their conversation to gaze at the two siblings, some snickering while whispering cruel things to their friends about the twins, others would just stare at the two as if they were some sort of attraction that was made for only their entertainment.

She felt Artemis tense up, and move closer to her obviously scared that something bad was going to happen to him, scared that someone was going to try to hurt him even if she was here to protect him. Her grip tightened on her brother's hand, calmly stepping in front of the boy and gently tugging on his wrist leading him safely to the Ravenclaw tower, with a quick answer to the question that they were asked, they were allowed into the common room.

A few of their fellow Ravenclaws were scattered along the common room, looking up when they entered. Some of them greeted them, while the others merely went back to what they had been doing before they had entered. They made their way to an empty couch and got back to their earlier position with Artemis's head in his sister's lap, with his eyes closed as Luna stroked his hair gently.

" Are you feeling okay Artemis? You don't feel ill now do you?"

" I do not nee-nee. I'm not a girl!"

Artemis pouted but still endured the teasing that his sister gave him for no other reason then it obviously made her happy. She had smiled at him for the first time in a ver long time, hell she had even teased him and laughed! It had been so long since he had last heard that laughter, that it brought a smile out on his face. When she insisted that they head up to the common room, he allowed her to lead him up there, staying close behind her to avoid the burning gazes of the classmates.

It was only when they got to the common room did Artemis fully relax. It took a few moments, but soon the siblings were spread out across an empty couch, Artemis with his head on his sister's lap and Luna with her hand gently stroking Artemis's long hair. When she asked him her question he just smiled up at her, before chuckling quietly.

" No, I'm fine nee-nee. There's no need to be so worried. I won't get sick like I was when I was a kid anymore Luna. The medical wizards confirmed that, remember?"

He smiled up at her again, before allowing the depths of sleep consume him. It had been a long but pleasant day. One that Artemis could only hope would occur more and more often.
