Tricky question time yet one I can see needing the staff judgment on. Here is Gene's App : App

If a metamorph was to become infected by a werewolf, would she have control over the changes, would it open up her own abilities to more power, would she lose control over what she could do, or would it depend on the infection?

The way it seems written in the books to me at least they sound like from the same branches of magic, transfiguration personal and thus may share a lot of similarities. I find the idea interesting even if it never happens on this site; there are a lot of magics mentioned in the books which don't undergo a very complete description.

Since the closest JKRowling gets to this is that Teddy is a metamorph (with a father werewolf and a mother metamorph) and that scratches on a wizard can produce partial results, I tend to lean towards someone like Genevieve who is a partial metamorph possible becoming a full metamorph with some serious control issues (great to RP of course) or some variation of that, but not a true werewolf. In fact it might be years or more before she got full control back over her own changes, but being already trained in it (as well as instinctual training since she had it early on in her life), it argues for her possessing a distinct advantage over another normal wizard or witch being infected.

Obviously different werewolf infections as well as different levels of metamorphs makes for some vastly varied reactions but this does reflect on future metamorphs on site so such a tricky judgment call sounds like one to get a staff opinion on at the very least. I don't see it highly likely that she might be infected, mind you, but there is a chance though and that's what I want to check out in advance. If I could get an idea of the staff's thoughts and a reasoning I can work with, I'd appreciate it very much.

My answer is: it depends on the level of infection, and on the metamorph.

I would think if she was scratched or bitten while the werewolf was in human form then she wouldn't have to worry about a thing because it is said if that happens then they would merely gain some wolf-like qualities, something I think the metamorph in her would negate. I think she would be good even if she was scratched by a wolf in their actual wolf form. It would be her getting bit in that form, where the problems would start happening.

I think that as a partial metamorph Gene stands more to lose than a full metamorph would. Because she is not a full one, I think that she would definately still stand a chance of becoming a werewolf herself, though the chance would be lower then it would be if she was just a normal witch or wizard. I do think she would have control issues with her powers after that, and I do think it would take her a long time to regain control over something that had previously been easy for her.

While I don't know if her getting seriously infected would grant her the ability to become a full metamorph, I think it would definately open other doors to her that were previously left unopen. I think she would become much stronger, and faster. I also think she would have a much easier time becoming an animagus if she chose to do so.

Thanks! It started bothering me a bit as I wondered what might happen then I realized there was little about either in detail. Got my mind thinking.

I agree, whether or not in werewolf form is going to be a key. I'll have to keep that in mind. A werewolf with some partial metamorph abilities seems rather frightening to me I must confess XD I can only imagine since Gene has a good deal of instinctual use of her ability that werewolf might really have some limited camouflage ability in the outdoors. Scary O.o

And what an interesting thought! Werewolf, metamorph, and animagus! That might be a first in the wizarding world. I'll have to think about that one... The healers at St Mungo's might be wanting to do some serious case studies on her after that!

Since we are working within such a vast world that, to be honest, does not belong to us, its safe to generally not make any grand and personal assumptions. You've brought up a really interesting question though, Shava, and Luna has given a very wonderful answer to work with. Remember, however, that J.K. Rowling's wizarding world is an old one, and with time, history is filled with many things. I'm pretty sure that anything within her world that could possibly exist within the rules of her world...does exist or has existed (there could be beings from Merlin's time that no longer exist).

As long as its believable and follows the rules of the world she's created, the world that we've all chosen to work within, then its definitely something you can run with. Her world is so big and still so mysterious that I'm sure there have and probably are 'werewolf/metamorph/animaguses'. The possibility of there being such beings shows proof of that.

Now, a Twilight style vampire who speaks to aliens would need some thorough explaining.

Thanks for the input! A couple of things however since you brought them up. One, I like stories not power houses. Even when a character of mine has a lot of power, it's usually more of a problem for them then an advantage. I don't like power gamers, but I do like the idea that with power comes more problems. I often find those who are always right or always the most powerful way too MarySue to begin with

Two, While it was her world and the main line is still hers, I think you can safely say that the world now belongs to the readers. While many sites go WAY outside into the ridiculous, I'd like to think most of the sites I have written in have been much more reasonable. Hence why instead of making up my own answer and just running with it, I asked for opinions.

I still will be the writer and the creator of the shared storyline with another, but I don't like stepping on other's toes and never will. Also why this was a staff question first - - Staff is there to keep tabs on it and as I mod elsewhere I would hope people would ask before they brought up something like this on another site as well. It's good to be respectful always.

Third, it might be that such creatures from the past have existed or might be hidden in the world right now, but while at Hogwarts which is under Ministry eye, she might be the first registered one if I take that road. Personally if you have the ability to change your skin and hair why you would want to take on another form as an animagus as well is escaping me at the moment lol! Twists on the idea of 'new' creatures from it is something I will think about though.

I might find something in the legends of the world I think fits after all If anything of this happened however, be assured I would reapply another app with her for approval.
